I thought we should have cut bait after the last incident. It will always be something with him. He's not a guy that we're gonna keep long term, and as long as we're eggshelling around his ass how can you hold any other players to a standard. I'll take a player with less physical talent who will be a professional part of the process every day of the week.
yeah this is it for me. You don’t get to sulk on the court, refuse to get back on D, or let an opponent waltz into the paint without even trying to get in their way. He’s a bonafide baby, and not talented enough to keep getting away with it. Many of us said after he quit on the team a couple months ago that if it happens again, he need to be benched or let go. I would almost feel more comfortable with him if he was getting in trouble off the court. But the lack of effort and straight up quit on the court is really unforgivable; especially because it’s become a pattern. When he gets frustrated he just quits. He thinks he’s bigger than the team. That’s not just a red flag; it’s detrimental to the team. bench him for the rest of our games and give his minutes to Nix and Christopher. It’s time to end the KPJ experiment. He needs to be traded this offseason…along with our other resident quitter, Christian Wood.
People saying KPJ does not have talent are just being emotional. Either because they think he has held their pet Jalen back or because they can’t stand his obvious mental issues. He was improving greatly in every aspect of the game before this ankle injury. He should not be playing because of that. GI, too, am fed up with the childishness and want him benched or suspended to test if that can bring him back to the reality that Houston has been good to him and given him the opportunity to resurrect his career. If he does not react well it is time to cut bait. He is an excellent defender, has a good and improving 3 pt shot, and has an NBA body. He needs to continue to work on his handles and passing. He is definitely an NBA starter if he gets his head straight. Unfortunately, I think patience should be running out and KPJ has to be told its now or never.
Let’s rewind for the people blaming the coach here: - Other than Wood who has also had previous issues, No one else is doing this crap - KPJ has been booted from teams more than once - Lucas admitted KPJ has to be handled gently or he will shut down Now let’s think back to the leaving the arena incident. Do you guys remember what caused that? I do. The coaches called out players during half time. They were doing that tough thing that you guys want. Guess who were the only two numbskulls that couldn’t handle it and flew off the handle? Again, Everyone else went back out there and played ball. Also, while many here wanted tough suspensions for these guys, many of you who have mentally put KPJ in bubble wrap for some reason championed the one game suspension. “No need to fly off the handle, suspend him for a game and move on”… remember that? So which is it? Did they handle it appropriately when they gave out the appropriate one game suspension? Did they handle it right when they were tough on him behind closed doors? Or are they too soft on him because like Lucas says they handle him with kid gloves in fear of him tuning them out? He’s done it no matter the team. No matter the organization. I am not a Silas fan, but this is about KPJ, not Silas. Not the Rockets. The only thing Silas and the Rockets are doing wrong here is keeping him around the team.
If he is not growing and can't handle tough love and you have to p***y foot around him, or walk on egg shells that will **** the rest of the team up....let him go. DD
I am not there yet, but getting close - every player has buttons to push, or things to do to get to where they want to be, and mostly, I blame Silas on Porter's situation as he has clearly not outlined many rules and let him get away with stuff. Now there are plenty of good NBA players who were treated differently, Rasheed Wallace, Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman, Draymond Green - the key is that NONE of them were "THE DUDE" and only were successful when someone they respected was on the team and clearly was the leader. We don't have that, and it is becoming clear that KPJ can't handle that pressure. So, the time to find out about whether to keep him or not is coming up very soon. That is really good improvement - but the key is.....can it be 82 games? I personally blame Silas. DD
Those guys you list were all dogs. Dray, Max, Artest, etc... I don't see any of those guys and think "low effort" was their problem. You see KPJ as a young player but to the 19-year-olds on the roster he's an older brother. I just hope that his and Wood's bad behavior and attitude don't rub off on them.
Agree that to me is the biggest issue, is that he tries too hard, and others follow......that is worst case, and if that is happening, he has to go. DD
Real consequences for his actions and attitude would be a start in teaching the youngsters. A real suspension, benching, cutting, something.
I agree that he should sit till he's healthy, but I also understand the mentality of young highly competitive players.....and it's not just basketball. Have you seen how some starting pitchers have reacted to being pulled from games? It can get REALLY bad. That doesn't mean it's acceptable, but it's understandable. Try pulling young James Harden out of a game telling him he's too hurt to continue and you'd have gotten the same thing. Honestly I'm running out of patience for his antics too, but the talent really is there and all Rockets fans should be pulling for him.....despite the really toxic extremely loud group of player only fans that have been desperately trying to push a narrative that he needs to be cut since before the season began. The Rockets as a team are significantly closer to contention if they can figure things out with him.
You can't have a cancer on your team while rebuilding from the bottom up. one player can regress any progress you try to make while creating extra headaches for the coach and organizaiton as a whole. KPJ is a lost cause. He has some good games ahead of him and could even have a season or two where he shines, but he should never get a big payday from us.
Please ditch this guy. KPJ and Wood are at least 50% at fault for the Rockets being unwatchable this season. I can't do another year of KPJ running the show with the maturity of a 5 year old.
I'd put myself in the group of KPJ supporters but my patience is running thin now too. There needs to be an intervention where the team's expectations for KPJ are clearly articulated and he can decide where his commitments lie. I think he can be legit 3 & D guy who can play off of guys like Green or Sengun while playing so.e good D and licking up 5 or 6 assists. He just needs to continue improving both his game and mental health. Fingers crossed, the clock is ticking.
I don’t think I have a problem with this as long as it’s not a distraction and keeps Scoot in a good head space, I just thought the Tweet was funny. Probably lots of stuff like this goes on and we just don’t see it. She plays basketball so probably likes being on the court hooping too unlike most Instagram models that wouldn’t go near the practice court.
we took a flyer and it didn't work. it happens. but i absolutely loathe watching him play the point these days. just missing every good look and open shooters to force terrible shots is not my jam.
He's playing poorly. Just move him to the bench. He's had good stretches but he's also not doing better on assists or TO's than last season for a guy who we've spent the entire season developing as a PG. If he's losing steam now it's not a good sign and he just needs to be told that. If I were his friend I would be the first to think about what's bugging him over his basketball career. If we're talking basketball, he needs another year and a better managed ego. Right now I wouldn't bet more than the MLE on him. He wants to be the star, he's not ok not being the star. It's obvious.
