Exactly. They are still at the point in this rebuild where they need to just draft BPA and see what works and doesn't work.
He's 21 and had a rough road, and we are nowhere close to contending, so no harm in at least seeing how one more year goes. That being said, as talented as KPJ is, there is no way a championship contender can count on him, as he is now, given his propensity to periodic melt downs. We all see it. Every two weeks or so, he has a temper tantrum/freak out/gives up entirely, just like he is doing right now against Memphis. Inevitably, it will happen in the playoffs. Everything will be magnified then. He has a year before his extension to get right enough and earn enough trust to get paid - I really don't think he has earned it and don't see him doing so.
I hope you're right. But the FO's ineptitude has been really bad. Any other team would have given up on the KPJ as PG experiment and given Nix more time. Not us.
Nix has played in like 5 games. He gets 10 mins a game, mostly off ball. I'm not saying Nix is the future of this team. But clearly, KPJ has shown us what he can and cannot do at PG. His limitations are known, and I think the conclusion by now to anyone with eyes should be he has flashes but is not a natural facilitator and struggles at a lot of the basics (simple passes, entry passes to post men, passes to the slip man during PnR motion, etc.), and his body language when things are going poorly and lack of competitive spirit in those moments make James Harden G6 vs. the Spurs look like Kobe. Personally, I don't think it's possible to feel secure with KPJ as a "core" member of this team going forward, and I think by now he's shown that his future, even if it's part of this team's core, is as a starting SF or 6th man, not starting PG. Given that, it makes sense to give more time to others that are on the roster to see what we have. We only have ten games left, mine as well see what we have here as we're not really worried right now about wins and losses.
Triple J, Adams, and Brooks are still in the game and Silas out here trotting out Bruno. Play Jalen Green so his stat line doesn't look like garbage.
I'm hoping that Silas, Tilman, and Stone are all in agreeance that giving Porter this much run is the single best way to ensure the worst record in the league.
Did KPJ leave because he was hurt or did he leave because he was not getting the ball? because we almost done with the season quitting on your team is not the way to go.
