While I agree that a timeout isn't going to solve all the team's woes, I disagree with the premise that it would HURT the team. What's wrong with stopping momentum, even for a little while, or just letting the players take a small mental break, or talk some things out?? I'm not saying that MDA has to come up with some magical solution in a 30 second span.....I'm just saying use it as a small reset button to re-calibrate. If you go back out and continue to get smoked, well you're in no worse shape than you were before the timeout.

Phil Jackson would refuse to call timeout during his championships to force the team to figure it out on their own and find solutions within themselves... I would know. I wrote my final undergraduate paper on Phil Jackson and the Triangle Offense.

 

This is why my points from the paint are always short and sweet.
