LOL... it certainly is not as funny as a Memphis fan trying to tell us how we choked in the playoffs. Have your team yet to win a SINGLE game in the playoffs? I start to feel in some way choking in the playoffs is a privilege because you have to win and get your hope high first. How can u choke when u either miss the playoffs or sweep by other teams. But I guess it's ok for u because u think Memphis will still finish ahead of the Rockets in 2004-05.
Ooops. Somebody forgot their username. What's in Memphis' ALL-TIME playoff win column? Oh that's right... GOOSE EGG btw- Dirk "the jerk" No-WIN-ski stinks... and he needs hooked on phonics.
Just imagine the firestorm that would have erupted if Shaq/Kobe had gotten beat by 40 in a game 7 after being up 2-0 and going home. Yao and Pau have still never been to the 2nd round. No cookies for getting your tail handed to you in game 7.
Yao playoff wins 4. Pau playoff wins 0. Any way you spin it, that big fat 0-fer doesn't look too good.
First of all I love you memphisx. Your insight as shown by your first post in this thread is remarkable. If the rockets had the Grizzlies supporting cast I think we would be in the WCF hands down. Memphis is a deep, talented team that has absolutely no go to guy. You can harp on the 40 points all you want but guess what we actually went to game 7 so dont be whiny and maybe some of us will tell you what it feels like to actually make it past the first week of the playoffs. And for you to come in and actually defend Dirk (LOL) is the icing on the cake. He is the most overrated superstar in the NBA. Some people are saying that he had a bad couple of series. You can have a bad game but in the playoffs you bounce back and play better if you are a superstar. Ahh, but perhaps you could only dream of a Memphis team that had Dirk leading it to the second round. I think that sounds about right.
Same goes for Houston.... I bet if Pau was playing with a player better than him then I am sure he would have some playoff wins under his belt.
It's idiotic to be selective about the details to support a preconceived opinion. At the start of the series, few gave the Rockets...2 very young superstars and a bunch of old legs, any chance to win the series or even go to 7 games. Although Yao certainly has farther to grow than TMac, they both performed quite well until the juice in this team finally ran out in game 7. There simply was nothing left in the tank against Dallas' young legs. At that point, many considered TMac's performances to be best in the playoffs overall (I expect that Nash has probably gained that distinction now). Is it that you're still stinging from previous comments on this board regarding the Grizzlies, or just the sad performance of your team in the playoffs?
Pau IS the problem not hi supporting cast.. Jiust imagine if Houston had Jason Williams, Mike Miller, and Stromile Swift
This coming from someone whose team has YET to win a playoff game, LOL. Your comments will only be taken seriously until that happens (winning a playoff game); until then keep posting stupid **** like this - it is highly amusing.
I'll take my chances with Yao and TMac next year or any year over any team that Pau is in. Pau is not a superstar and will never lead his team to a ring, he will need to ride somebody's jockstrap (which he'll probably like). He's just a good player, an occasional All-Star at best. Whereas TMac can be the best player in the league if he wants to be and will lead this team deep into the playoffs every year as long as he has the right role players around him (it's been said over and over again, the role players lost that game 7, they didn't show up, and they can be replaced). Yao is still improving, and this team is still improving, after a horrible start, we actually finished the season ahead of what I thought they'll do. The Rox are going upward and depending what role players we get, can be a top 4 team in the near future, and again a deep playoff contender every year (am I the only one that thinks that game 7 loss was a fluke and not that big of a deal, play that game again and I think our role players would have made a better showing). And we lost to the Mavs, who weren't going anywhere anyways...I said before they weren't a championship caliber team, and really ironic and funny that Crybaby Cuban lost to a player he decided to get cheap on while the player he paid big bucks was a total zero in the playoffs and got slammed by Diesel, 2nd best center my @ss. I'm not concerned at all with Memphis, they are bantha fodder for years to come. Mavs, on the other hand, I would enjoy exposing them for the fakes they are.
Seriously... to all fans of other teams. You are honestly questioning the history of success of this franchise?!? Unless you're a diehard Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons or San Antonio Spurs fan... you really have no case in arguing anything. We've seen championships... we've seen Hall of Fame players play for us. We've had years when we've been down, and we've had years when we've been on top of the world. Right now, we're looking to head towards the latter again... and its a helluva fun ride... but most importantly, WE'VE BEEN THERE BEFORE. Memphis... 0 playoff wins..... 0 hall of fame players... ZERO HISTORY. Dallas (which may be an even sadder franchise)... 0 championships... 0 NBA finals appearances... 0 hall of fame players.... and their best player ever is the one who's getting slammed right now (and deservedly so... by fans who actually do deserve to slam him). I think what MemphisX or any other person who says, "you guys shouldn't talk... after your playoff performance," doesn't realize is that we're not merely talking about our experiences w/ the playoffs w/ Yao's Rockets' tenure.... we're reflecting back to our knowledge of what truly GREAT playoff performers are, since we've seen about infinitely more of those guys play for Houston than Memphis has EVER seen. We know that Clyde and Hakeem went off for 41 and 40 in game 4 of the first round in 1995. We know that a young Akeem went off for 49 points against Seattle in the 1987 playoffs, after reaching the finals the previous year (the same point at where Pau's career is still "developing" now). The Kiss of death, clutch city from choke city, Barkley almost retiring, Sam Cassell takes manhattan, MVP's, parades, sellouts for an entire season, knowing what its like to win a game 7, knowing what its like to take a game 7 to overtime only to lose it, knowing how it feels to win your division, knowing what its like to win a playoff game on the road, retiring a jersey, retiring two jerseys, having those retired players sit courtside at your games to watch their hometown team, having a promising future (in 86, and now), almost making the worst decision ever (almost trading Olajuwon in 92), perhaps making one of the best decisions ever (obtaining Clyde, T-Mac), making household names out of Eric Riley, Richard Petruska, and Zan Taback, having two or three guys involved in this organization for the last 20 years (Gene Peterson, Jim Foley, Bill Worrell), winning championships, winning championships, and winning championships .... Honestly, memphisx... honestly. We (or at least I) have every right (maybe moreso than you) to question what we see out there on the court from a supposed "superstar" player in this league... but even the fans of this current team only should have that right because frankly, you won't find anyone else in this league who would take Dirk Nowitski or Pau Gasol over either Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady.
That is exactly what I was thinking. Before the playoffs started I thought Pau (and what kind of p***y ass name is that?) Gasol was the whiniest biatch in the world. His facial expressions after every miss call make me wanna go buy a gun and shoot myself and him with it. Nowinski however has Pau easily beat in that category after watching the playoffs.
Of course Memphis has no history, they haven't been around as long. That's like a Cowboys fan throwing their history in a Texans' fan's face. As far as supporting casts are concerned, that argument rings hollow. You can't brag that GMs wouldn't take Pau over Yao or McGrady and then argue that T-Mac or Yao has no supporting cast. Yao has T-Mac and T-Mac has Yao, and both so both have a player at their side better than any player Pau has.
Which is exactly why I didn't go to the Cowboys website and rub it in that they didn't make the playoffs this year, etc... we frankly have no right to do that as a new Texans team. Likewise, Memphis fans really shouldn't be able to come in here and say that "we shouldn't be talking bad about Dirk because Yao and T-mac haven't gone as far as Dirk has." I was just saying that we CAN talk because we do have a history, we have seen great playoff performances before, and regardless of what Yao/T-mac did... Dirk has sucked it up for a supposed MVP candidate superstar. Fans in Memphis and Dallas (for the last 6 years only... before that, they had no real fans) tend to forget that the NBA did exist (and was probably in much better shape) before their teams started winning games.
