The Cowboys foremost need better offensive skill people. If corner was the last piece in the puzzle I'd go for Newman--but I think they should go for Leftwich or trade up for Rogers or trade down for the #1 RB or #3WR in the draft plus then pick up the #2 or #3 corner prospect or an OL.

Any team that passes on Byron Leftwich will regret it. This guy's got a cannon, can make just about any throw, and is damn good at reading defenses. Chad Hutchinson is garbage. Drafting Leftwich would send a message to Cowboys fans that they're building something.

Newman may well have just been snatched from your grips with the trade of the 4th pick to the Jets.

You maybe right but Suggs would still be a nice pick.

I would guess we will take who ever is left standing in Newman/Suggs or A. Johnson if the Texans go a different way or trade the pick.

I dont think the Texans are trading down, however you never know what offer comes their way. I think the Jets take Newman unless somehow Detroit flakes on Rogers. Either way I dont see Newman being available at #5. Still, Robertson is pretty damn good.

Man, I tell you what, they will not lose if they get Suggs. That guy is a horse and he really gets out there and busts his ass. If he gets along with Parcels, that guy would be a monster after getting some of Bill's tutaledge.

Suggs has been referred to as more of a LB in the down line position, and OH BTW, I think Parcels is a little partial to quick guys coming off the end (LT).

    ***********************************************

If Rogers slips and Detroit takes Johnson, do the Texans:

    a) Take Rogers and hope to work out a deal
    b) Take Suggs

Man, I knew we had bad corners, but I almost became sick when the ESPN guys showed just how bad they were. It looked like the defensive scheme was perfect for the play the offense ran with 2 guys on one receiver. It gets thrown to that guy, and the WR catches it easily.

Now with Roy and Newman, our secondary should be good for a while. I also heard Donald Mitchell played ok in his time with TEN.

As for the rest of the draft, I pretty much agree with what 4chuckie had said earlier.

I was just about to say I hope Grossman would make it past GB and SF, but he didn't even make it past Chi-town.

Now I just hope they pick the best big body available.

Well we addressed the CB and OL.

I think the best value in 3rd round may be at RB. Seems like alot of D-linemen have already gone so I'm not sure who may be left? We definetely need a body there. LB is not too pressing. We still have Dexter-Dat-Singleton (from Tampa), but it would be nice to have another. Safety is also not pressing but if Mike Doss falls to the 3rd take him!

I would guess RB in the 3rd round, unless a d-linemen falls. Both positions (HB & LB) need looked at with the next 2-3 picks.

    Go Cowboys!

I agree I don't understand the TE from Tenessee, especially since Peterson from OSU was there (DT-DE). We have a big need at DT, so I don't understand it.

Jason Witten!? Didn't expect they'd get a likely starter at TE with a 3rd!

They had one of the best first days of anyone, no question.

Anyone else think they should take Rien Long or Ian Scott (both DTs) with their 4th? I'd love either one, but I'd prefer Scott.

Ryie Long would be a steal. That would be a good thing, a very good thing

I have to say I am more than content with the Cowboys picks. First three picks could all be starters next season. My only question:

    Who are you, ZURIEL SMITH?

As an old school Cowboys hater it pains me to say, but nice draft. I will save my barbs and hateful words for another thread, even you guys deserve a little happiness every now and again. ;)

Yeah, I checked out the profiles on ESPN and all the guys seems like they could have gone sooner than the pick we got them at. But your right about Zuriel. They didn't have him there, but I did find some stats on him somewhere with Google.

Totally off topic, but I was in Dallas this weekend to catch up with some friends. I went to the Starbucks inside of Northpark mall and I see this tall person standing behind us in line. He looks kind of goofy and in all honesty, looks like he could be going to SMU. Anyway, after a brief moment, I finally put a name together with his face and it was none other than formal St. Louis Cardinal and current Cowboy QB Chad Hutchinson. Anyway, it was a random encounter, and after convincing my buddy, a Cowboy fan, that it was really C-Hutch, I asked him what he was up to, what he thought of Newman, etc. He seemed really nice, I think he was there with his mom. Anyway, no pix to prove it. But I think if I had started bragging how the Texans did them in, he may have pounded me, and I would have a police report to back up my meeting with C-Hutch. :D

The Cowboys suck, and so does the rest of NFL teams.

Might as well have a Chicago Bears thread on here as well, huh? Go to a Dallas website.

    bite me fatty.

I liked their draft, though I would've preferred they trade down.

Still have a hole at DT. Would've liked to have gotten a qb to challenge Chad, but I hear they're working on signing an undrafted fa to do that. :p
