Hey, speaking of which.. Back last year I got a phone call from Best Buy stating that they were contacting all customers who had purchased an HD-DVD player (including the 360 add-on), and were going to be giving them a $50 gift card to compensate for their losses from purchasing a discontinued technolody. The call said 'you don't have to do anything, you will just receive your gift card'. Did anyone else get contacted like this? And did anyone ever get that gift card? I never did, forgot totally about it. Wonder what they'll say if I call up their corp office and say 'Where's my card, you beaches???'
I think you will get your card. I thought it was $100? Their salesmen got incentives to push HDDVD players I think.
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/22/warner-reintegrates-hd-dvd-faithful-with-red2blu-trade-in-progra/ U.S. HD DVD fans that passed up Best Buy's offer of $3 per disc, or just those who stocked up on cheap movies after the format gave up the fight have another option coming from Warner Bros. Send in the cover art sleeve (keep the disc) including UPC from your HD DVD case (plus $4.95 per movie and $6.95 / $8.95 per order S&H) and it will send you back a brand new Blu-ray copy. There's a few other restrictions, like 1 copy per movie and 25 different movies per household, but the biggest decision is likely to be whether giving up your precious I Am Legend sleeve is worth the trade, hit up Red2Blu.com for all the details and necessary forms. It seems to us like a decent offer to make HD DVD owners whole, we'd be surprised if Paramount and Universal came through with similar plans.
so i give up my sleeve and also send in around 12-14 bucks for a new blu-ray movie? I dont see how thats really a deal. luckily for me my hd-dvd player is the xbox add-on so I am not really having to use separate connections on my dvd or space on my entertainment center for it.
