3-9…I really hope nobody here is still getting catfished by Christian Wood good boxscore numbers with his 22 and 10 on 62% shooting…too bad even below average-average bigs have been dropping that or better on his head for weeks
No, he won't make anyone look silly. On a good team, he will crack under pressure. He can't even play close end games in Rockets, where winning does not matter much. His 60% free throw percentage will be more of an issue. His non-existent screens will be an issue. A lot of other things already discussed in detail will be a issues. He is mentally weak. I don't think he can survive in any real competition. He will shine every now and then on a shitty team where he has no accountability and do whatever he wants as well as not do whatever he does not want to. Nothing more. What was the best offer Rockets got for him at the trade deadline?
I too am doubtful. He has the talent to be an all-star player but the mental aspect is completely missing. Trade him to GSW, what happens when Draymond gets on him for a missed assignment? What happens when he tries to take it coast to coast and turns it over or tries to take on 3 defenders in the paint missing an open Klay Thompson? Heat? What happens when Butler tries to fight him for playing selfishly? Suns? Think CP3 gonna handle a big that isn't setting screens? lol. All great teams value EVERY possession and Wood takes TOO many possessions off. He also supposedly has attitude issues and he's supposed to be a mature player. Hopefully though he can continue looking good and we can lose a few more games, best case scenario really. Should be a really nice trading piece. Stone should be fired if he's still on this team to start the 2022-23 season. He'll be a 1 year deal left, 14 million so not a huge contract, this should be an easy trade to make. I could see a team desperate to get better and stay relevant trade for him or a team ready to take the next step like the Hornets or something...
wood does not fit our team, he is weak mentally and emotionally and he would need veterans to keep him in line to be a good player. He has a big ego and not worth the headache.....we will trade him
He averaged 23 and 11 next to Harden before Harden was traded, and no one was complaining about his defense. Bigs who can shoot 40% from 3 on high volume do not grow on trees. Ones who can do it with no pg and creating them for himself is a special skill. On a shty Rockets team that gets blown out regularly Wood has by far the higher advanced metric in winshare and bpm. Its laughable to think he wouldn’t be a dangerous offensive weapon playing along side an actual playmaker on a winning team.
This Rockets team is absolutely trash and Wood is by far the best player on it (not saying much). The fact that he recognizes that isn’t having a “big ego”, its called self awareness and being realistic.
We don’t know the answer to that because the Rockets never accepted any offers. Let’s see how much his next contract is worth on the open market. I bet it will be >$20m/year and well worth it.
There is no benefit to Rockets winning any more games on this we all agree on. But when Green leads team to a win, everyone applauds and shets themselves. But when Wood does it he's the anti-Christ. Relax people. Rockets not digging themselves out of depths of hell in NBA, worst record for second straight season is safe. But let's enjoy a couple of franchise milestones. Wood was 88.9% from 3P and 100% from FT. Those numbers are ridiculous. Again, Wood shot 8 of 9 from 3P - CRAZY!!!
That is precisely the gist of it. Being such a shetty team, one should not read too much into that. If you pay him max money, he is stuck here. He has no business being on a rebuilding team.....same goes for Ego and Schroeder.
I mean, Green is the core to the Rockets' future, he's one of the youngest rookies in the draft, him being a consistent factor in the Rockets winning games early on is a healthy "downside", because those wins are still positive contributions to the future. Wood is a 27 year old veteran, him helping us win games does absolutely nothing for our future.
Meh. If he did this vs a higher rank teams or more consistently people would b hype for him. He earned enough ill will with his shtty behavior as a big man. Legit quit on team multiple time and his habit of forcing his smaller teammates to guard the big men + his inability to set a proper screen + Dribbling the ball up the court for a to. Plenty of grievances toward Wood, rightfully so. Lots of wood fans box score watch but don't realize his stats has yet translate to a winning record. Straight up would u max contract him or even offer him 20 million+ per year?
I actually think he'd listen to those other dudes and buy in to their team philosophies. The reason he doesnt on the Rockets is because he doesn't respect any of the coaches or players, and feels he's the best player on the team. He should net some good value for us. It should be pretty obvious why we love it when Green leads the team to a win versus Wood doing it lmao
God he is just infuriating, but IF he ever puts it all together you’ve got one hell of a special talent.
I've said it many times before, C-Wood is just now learning the game. Although he's 26, he's a very young 26 as far as NBA experience and mileage on his body. He is NOT a NBA Center and it's a shame it's taking Silas this long to figure this out. More than anything, the Rockets need two things; a true big and a legit head coach. Also, I'm thinking we may need a PG. KPJ is not progressing like I had hoped.
One game against a bad team and this is starting up. Christian Wood is the main reason this team has won 18 games this year. He doesn't play defense and centers have their best game of the year against him.
When Wood scores a couple of buckets consecutively he immediately thinks he's Michael Jordan and then demands he take the next 10 shot attempts for the team. He still thinks of himself as a franchise level player.
That's awesome that this guy got lucky last night and screwed up the tanking process. I didn't watch the game, just saw the highlights. Did this guy play any defense? Reading through the threads, it looks like Sengun had to anchor it.
