Put Wood on a vet team with an established culture IE Miami and he will either thrive or alienate those around him. He doesn't work for this re-build and his numbers are hollow. Hoping he is enough tp combine with the Nets pick to move up a few slots.
He seems to get up when the game is competitive. I don't know how much losing and winning affects his effort, but certainly it does affect it. My issue is less about that and more about whether or not he is truly committed to winning (aka defense).
It's more rare for a player to change than not. Wood would need a professional, spiritual, and mental rock bottom to get there. He currently thinks the team is in his way towards big success...
His attitude has been less obviously toxic lately, I’ll give him that. I still think he’s a good stats bad team all star.
He has basically no qualities that will contribute to winning at a high level, it’s part of why nobody would give up anything for him. Maybe you can find a dumb team like Sacramento to take him in the offseason but i would trade him ASAP
Just watching him force his smaller teammates guard the opposing big is infuriating as fk. I do not want to watch that sht.
silas loves being multiple / versatile but he’s seeing double if he thinks wood is doing anything worthwhile Wood shouldn’t be involved in our offense . Wood shouldn’t be on the floor . Whaddya gonna do ?
exactly. if he was playing with harden and Westbrook he'd look great. focus on scoring off of lobs, rolls and spot up 3's. don't try to create too much for yourself. lock in on D since the games mean something. instead we have him bringing the ball up and calling iso's for himself, and mailing it in on D since we're playing for lotto balls. that being said, I don't feel the need to resign him after next year. we'll have alpy with probably one of the top bigs from this draft. no room for him. time to move on this summer. maybe package him with the BRK pick to move up.
You hated our last big star that played terrible defense, why are you hitching yourself to this mediocre guy that plays even worse defense than the predecessor?
What do you do with him? I am not sure what you can get back from a Miami or a Charlotte that would markedly improve this team. His trade value seems to be lighter than you'd hope - especially since he will be an expiring contract. He's not worth 20 million a year but he is worth more than 10 million. Maybe you keep him. Start Sengun with him. If you pick up a big in the draft it wouldn't be bad to have 3 big men. If you don't get a big man, then you're going to need him and he isn't that old.
**** Wood. He's just a ****ing blockhead. I hope he finds more money and GTFO of our team in the offseason.
