So on third and 10 you want Fitz to sit back and try to beat a blitz?

Romo just heaves it to Dez Bryant and hopes. . . . . . Fitz can do that with Dre

Well he could, but Dre wouldn't come down with it. His decline has been sad to see this season.

He doesn't have the arm strength nor accuracy of Romo, nor he can buy time like Romo.

Dre is still on pace to get 1,000 yards despite having a much worse QB.

And he's 9th in yards per route run. Just not running as many routes.

    1) Demaryius Thomas: 3.17 YPRR
    2) Jordy Nelson: 2.98 YPRR
    3) Steve Smith: 2.96 YPRR
    4) Dez Bryant: 2.76 YPRR
    5) T.Y. Hilton: 2.68 YPRR
    6) Antonio Brown: 2.65 YPRR
    7) Golden Tate: 2.45 YPRR
    8) Desean Jackson: 2.41 YPRR
    9) Andre Johnson: 2.38 YPRR
    10) Julio Jones: 2.33 YPRR

None of that matters when you are chucking it up for grabs and hoping your guy comes down with it.

This isn't college. That's not an NFL play. Could sometimes work with Moss and Calvin but this isn't Madden football.

You guys want BOB to be more creative and come up with "heave it up there"?

It was part joke part serious

My Point is . .. . sometimes your Game Manager will have to MAKE A PLAY
    3rd a 15 . .. .sometimes you gotta go for the bomb

It killed use with Kubiak . ..
If everyone KNOWS you going underneath EVERYTIME
not some time. . but EVERY TIME . . ..
They sit on the routes and BOOM . . . Sherman heading to the EndZone

Blaming Kubiak's calls for a broken down Shaub's pick sixes is funny.

Schaub had a very high y/a when healthy and the down field pass was common.

Don't believe me? Watch a Ravens game.

And, no, "heave it" is not a part of their offense or any good offense for that matter.

And Fitz was given the chance to pass at the end of the second. It got intercepted. He has 7 interceptions and four fumbles despite not throwing much.

Let's start here... Andre Johnson is no longer in Dez Bryant's class. And Ryan Fitzpatrick has never been in Tony Romo's class, nor is the TExan OL near as good as the Cowboy OL (which is one of the best in football). Second of all.... you're wrong. Again, the perspective/perception is narrow and biased and so you draw a conclusion that suits your narrative, regardless of whether there's anything to actually back it up.

Here are all of the Cowboys' 3rd-and10+ plays this year; note two things: 1) the word "short" is used *a lot* to describe Romo's passes; 2) despite what you think you rememebr, "Dez Bryant" is decidedly absent from the list. (PS I copied and pasted these; if you have a problem with "short" - talk to ESPN).

    3rd and 10 at SF 11
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short middle to J.Witten

    3rd and 21 at DAL 17
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short right to D.Murray

    3rd and 18 at DAL 33
(No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Romo pass deep middle to D.Harris to SF 11 for 56 yards

    ----------------
    3rd and 15 at 50
(Shotgun) T.Romo sacked at DAL 38 for -12 yards

    3rd and 29 at TEN 30
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short right to T.Williams

    3rd and 15 at TEN 29
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass deep right to D.Bryant to TEN 11 for 18 yards

    --------------------
    3rd and 12 at DAL 18
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to D.Murray to DAL 24 for 6 yards

    3rd and 13 at DAL 13
(No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Romo scrambles up the middle to DAL 29 for 16 yards

    3rd and 14 at DAL 25
T.Romo pass deep middle to T.Williams to DAL 45 for 20 yards

    --------------------------
    3rd and 10 at DAL 10
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short right to D.Murray.

    3rd and 13 at HOU 36
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to D.Bryant to HST 21 for 15 yards

    3rd and 12 at HOU 15
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short middle to T.Williams

    -------------------------
    3rd and 10 at DAL 20
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to C.Beasley to DAL 31 for 11 yards

    3rd and 14 at DAL 39
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short left to L.Dunbar pushed ob at SEA 43 for 18 yards

    3rd and 17 at DAL 46
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short left to D.Murray to SEA 40 for 14 yards

    3rd and 15 at DAL 7
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short left to D.Bryant.

    3rd and 20 at DAL 31
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass deep right to T.Williams ran ob at SEA 46 for 23 yards.

    -------------------------
    3rd and 10 at NYG 15
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short middle to G.Escobar for 15 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

    3rd and 16 at DAL 14
(Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to J.Randle to DAL 28 for 14 yards

    3rd and 19 at DAL 18
(Shotgun) L.Dunbar left tackle to DAL 31 for 13 yards

Altogether, 18 actual pass plays - 7 to a RB; 3 to Dez Bryant. But other than that... sure, whatever you say......

Fitz is 12th in interception rate.

Only crappy QBs and rookies have higher rates than him.

You still want him heaving it?

That's simply not true. Those plays are luck, not skill, literally any QB in the NFL can toss a pass up for grabs and hope his guys come down with it. If you get lucky enough on them, people will start to call you "elite"

    That's patently ridiculous.

And you have to have some pocket presence and arm strength to pull it off.

Pocket presence can be made up for with a competent O line and damn near any QB in the NFL has the strength to throw a ball up for grabs.

OK I'm not arguing that anyone can't just heave it.

I'm arguing if you want to be successful at heaving you have to have good mobility and arm strength.

And I'm arguing that it comes down to luck or a spectacular play by the receiver most of the time.
