i dont understand the 'savant angle' what did michael do in that episode? he waited in line and then cosby impression but what did he actually do?

He completed a huge sale to the guy he kept calling and doing the Cosby impression to. That was why Pam was so suprised at the end of the day, when Michael awoke from his sugar-crash nap.
