I thought that the premiere was LAME.. I HATE the split of the two offices.. I'm not a fan of that other guy in Jims new office that is from the Daily Show..
Well I thought it was great. I mean it's hard to top the Office's start last year (The first two episodes from last year are two of my all-time favorites), but this premiere was a worthy addition to the series. It was just vintage (foot-in-mouth) Michael dropping some classic one-liners: "I watch Queer as F***" "That's what she said... or he said." "There's Gil, his roomate. I wonder if he knows." That conference room scene was as funny/awkward as the show's ever been. And while other shows/movies have done the whole "Gay acceptance through symbolic hetero/homo kiss" resolution (see Talladega Nights for the most recent example), I thought this instance was one of the best executed ones I'd seen. And some of the smaller moments were great: Creed and Stanley's talking heads Dwight's fake crying and sticking up for Angela Ryan becoming permanent despite his previous ambivalence at working there (This plotpoint was probably the truest part of this whole episode. Course I've been in that exact situation before, so I'm sort of biased). As for the whole Jim/Pam thing. I think they did a good job with resolving it the only way a tv show could resolve it, and yet still be somewhat unique and interesting. Let's face it, they can't get them together after only 29 episodes, and Pam getting married would have painted them into a horrible corner. This gives them some options and presents an obstacle that isn't THAT contrived (TV usually does much worse). At least not yet. One thing that I found interesting was that the, Jim to Stamford split narrative really reminded me of the movie "Hoop Dreams". In that movie they continued to follow that one kid who got cut loose from the private school when he didn't perform the way they wanted him to. It really showed the twists and turns that can happen in life, and ended up being a powerful story. Now I'm not saying that this move to Stamford is going to give "The Office", the kind of poignancy that "Hoop Dreams" had (In fact, it's more likely to be the opposite, because Jim is such a big part of the office dynamics, that separating him from the rest of the guys will give the show an annoying "missing piece" feel.), but I do salute the writers for their guts in going through with this storyline. It's a big risk to change up the forumla like this, but it could turn out to be interesting and really worthwhile. It's a slippery slope to be sure, but I think they're off to a very nice start so far.
Oh man. I forgot about that line. "I watch Will and Grace! I watch Queer as F**k!" "That's not what the show is called, Michael..."
Oh, I just remembered another one. "Gay p*rn, straight p*rn... it's all gooood." Michael Scott trying to be hip is too funny for words. Michael Scott trying to be hip and outreaching at the same time is too funny for thoughts. Edit: I just needed to add, "The company has made it my responsibility today to put an end to 100,000 years of being weirded out by gays." Those inappropriate comments that hold small bits of truth about the human condition are the best.
The show's pacing seemed off. The mood of the show seemed a lot different. Spoiler My favorite parts were when Dwight tried to kiss Oscar at the end, and when Jim put the stapler in the jello and Ed Helms got pissed off and Jim got scared.
If it follows the UK series script, then we are headed for a merging of the 2 branches and a reunion for Jim and Pam.

I missed the premiers of this and 'My Name is Earl'. Anyone know where I can DL them? (for free preferrably)
I'm pretty sure it can be found in any episode of Roseanne. How anyone finds that crap funny is beyond me. To follow it with The Office astounds me. Much like following "Mama's Family" with "Cheers."
Well there's iTunes. But "for free" then hopefully you're familiar with bit torrent, because mininova.org is the easiest way to go.
...Earl is one of the funniest shows on t.v. Everyone has their own sense of humor, don't dog what others like just b/c you don't.
I thought tonights episode (2) was much better than the first. SPOILER HIGHLIGHTS * Jim finding Dwight's "hooker" * Whatshisname hitting on Pam in the office * "If I weren't engaged I'd hit it." * Michael acting as if he too received an email from Jan on his phone until he was busted by Dwight. "Your phone doesn't have email." I laughed out loud at that. * "ain't no party like a Scranton party..."
I watched the series premiere and just didnt like it. I guess i was still hooked on the English version. I think the English version of its is one of the greatest shows ever, that and ricky G's other show after it, Extras. Extra's was just unbelievably hilarious. i've been told its started its 2nd season in England a few weeks back, hopefully hbo starts airing it again soon. I recently just got into my name is earl and its fantastic. great writing. BUT, I know i dont really need to go on about Arrested Development as its been talked about a lot but my goodness, that show was F*cking fantastic. Amazing writing, awesome cast and acting.
I have just watched a couple episodes of the american version, but i have seen all episodes of the british version, and i trully believe the british version is much better, yall should check it out...
