this ep was AWEsome. michael was a little over the top (even for him) at a *few* points.. but overall great ep!
LOL. That is some classic NBC misdirection right there. I used to watch Frasier, and they had the most manipulative promos ever. Looks like NBC has continued the tradition with the office. As for the episode itself, it was pretty awesome. A ton of nice touches. Hardly any slow points, and Michael at his cringe-worthy best. That episode had so much going on, it could have easily been an hour long ep. Favorite moment: Ryan jumping in and blocking the bouquet away from Kelly. Pure genius.
This show is really going downhill fast for me. Tonight was a good episode outside of Michael. His character is just too much lately. It's become very unenjoyable to me.
Michael was the only enjoyable part of this episode for me tonight. He was back to his old ways of season I and II. Not sure who wrote this episode but it was very similar to the BBC version. Great stuff.
really? i thought tonight was the first time in a while that michael has really been extreme. there were a couple episodes back-to-back recently where he was pretty subdued. anyways, i thought tonights episode was awesome. way better than last weeks. i don't care that much about jim and pam but i really hope they don't bring roy back in the picture.
I feel the same way, like almost the exact same way. Since the start of the season something has felt different with it. I don't know...it seems like Steve Carell is not really there anymore. I'm sure he is working on a number of other projects. Did you see Scrubs?
I can take or leave Jam, but you're right; the office blogs/message boards that I read have pretty much gone insane over this ep. Too bad. There's so much more to the show than just Jim/Pam.
It seems like every time they humanize Michael a bit, and you start to hear media and such talk about how much softer the US office is than it's BBC counterpart, the writers come up with something truly grotesque for Michael to do. It's just like the Diwali episode, where Michael's back to back proposal and pass at Pam has to be the equal of any horrible thing David Brent ever did. It's as if the writers are saying, "You think we've gone soft? Well take this."
I cried. Last week his character was too much, but in a different way. How does he not know what a stripper is?
So sad, so many great Michael lines. I guess I prefer the show when Michael is in full jackass mode. "Me walking Phyllis down the aisle was supposed to be the highlight of the wedding. And now, the wedding has no highlight." "Phyllis and Bob, their celebrity couple name would be … Phylob. You look at her, and she’s kind of matronly today. But back in high school, I swear, her nickname was “Easy Rider.” "Phyllis is getting married, and I am in the wedding party. She’s asked me to push her father’s wheelchair down the aisle. So basically, I am co-giving away the bride. Since I pay her salary, it is like, I am paying for the wedding. Which I’m happy to do. It’s a big day for Phyllis. But it’s an even bigger day for me. Employer of the Bride." Phyllis, did you break wind? Wow, that is … that is pungent."
You are making an assumption there. We don't know for sure. Well...we don't. If she did, then I truly hope this is the last straw and they don't even harp on this non-existent relationship in any future episodes. Roy is such a r****d that I don't understand what JAM ever saw in him. Isn't the next episode the Valentine's Day episode where Jam and Pim get together?
How can you say that? This season he has been nothing but a gentleman. He didn't even stay for the stripper.
Classic episode...Great one liners throughout...Michael getting back to his roots...Pam getting back together, at a weddding, very predictable... Kevin: Where'd you meet her Toby: The gym Kevin: Yeah right, the gym... and Michael: Webster’s dictionary defines ‘wedding’ as “the fusing of two metals with a hot torch”.
Pim is far superior to anything Roy has to offer. If Jam can't see that, then maybe she does belong with Roy. They can have a boring and dull life together (on the show). God forbid they actually entertain each other.
Well I just watched last week and last night back to back. "Beef. It's Whats for Dinner." might be my favorite line ever.
