c'mon guys, dwight won't even miss one episode. the writers know how important his character is and it's not like rainn wilson has anything better lined up. my super ex-ex girlfriend? nah. this episode was probably my favorite so far after the christmas special. they're getting better and better now that there's way less story to wrap-up/tell. dwight and jim on that salescall was classic. same with stanley making fun of ryan. "you sound like my niece and she's six-months old."
EDIT: Nevermind its already online. http://www.dailymotion.com/Socalrunner951/video/xyw0z_the-office-traveling-salesmen
on the characters leaving note, do you think michael leaves at some point and if he does is the office over? i have no idea what steve carrell's plans are but as his movie career gets bigger he could go the way of other actors and leave tv behind. hopefully not for a few more seasons atleast.
Can't see them getting rid of Andy, he's become a great character as Dwight's nemesis. And on that note, can't see them getting rid of Dwight. The show wouldn't be the same without him. This season has been great, with the addition of the Stanford branch. Throwing in Martin, Tony, and Hannah were fine for a couple episodes just to have some different plotlines in there. But Karen and Andy better be here to stay. I love this show! (BTW, season two is selling on Amazon for $25, lowest I've seen, ordered it the other day)
Damn, just when I think this show can't surprise me anymore, it tosses out a moment of pure genius. I'm talking about the ending where Angela is staring daggers at Andy, and you just know that without a doubt she's going to get her revenge and royally f*** him over. As for Dwight, he'll definitely be back. He's a series regular and one of the most popular characters on the show. He's not going anywhere. Andy and Karen on the other hand are definitely on the fence. They've been given featured roles on the show, but it seems like the writers have given themselves an out in case they want to dump them later. So it remains to be seen whether Andy can handle the retaliation of Angela or Michael finding out the truth about his treachery, and whether Karen and Jim's relationship has any legs. This episode was great. The Jim/Dwight sales call was awesome, and the Karen/Phyllis one was hilarious (best sight gag of the year when they showed their makeover for the first time). Michael got to show off his salesman skills again, while Andy had a few good lines. The Ryan/Stanley call was a bit obvious, but I still found it amusing. And I did feel it held a certain amount of truth in it. The fact that they sent out Stanley to handle the account with the black businessman is pretty much how that situation would work out in the real world. So that was an honest touch. By the way, Dwight has been awesome the past two episodes. The writers have done a great job of rounding out his character and making him more sympathetic and less of a clown. It's always good to give characters a few more dimensions than their broad comic selves. I can't say enough about the show right now. Ever since they merged the two branches the show has been on fire. It reminds me of the stretch they had in season two, where they had a string of awesome shows. I'm talking about the second disc of the season 2 dvd, where they had 4 office classics (the Client, Christmas Party, Booze Cruise, the Injury), and two other solid eps (Performance Review, and Email Surveillance). The stretch they're in now is just as good with two definite classic eps (the Merger, A Benihana Christmas), and a couple near-classic/possible classic ones (Branch Closing, Traveling Salesman), and two more very good eps (the Convict, Back from Vacation). The show started out a bit slow with the divided storylines, but they've really hit their stride now, and I look forward to the rest of the season.
I think this is probably Stanley's Best Episode Even though I love his quiet Disgust with everything. Ryan is hilarious as well. The Picture of Young Jim and Young Dwight . . enough said Rocket River
I loved Andy's Willy Wonka references (esp. the oompa loompa song). No way Andy/Ed Helms should ever leave the show. He's like the "missing link" on a sports team that elevates them from pretty good/contender... to dynasty status.
I can't see Andy leaving. Producers aren't dumb. Karen could potentially go, though.. My favorite was the Jim/Dwight sales call. They hate each other and yet worked so well together. I definitely assumed Dwight was doing another stupid thing with the phone..
I love that about this show, they kind of always give the audience a glance of real world situations as oppose to keeping them all clowns all the time, like showing off Michael sales skills and Dwight and Jim's sales pitch. Stanley's sales call was awesome! This show is just putting out great episode after great episode, it was really hard to take Karen seriously with hair do though
I was in tears after the first scene. I love how Jim and Pam always play along with Michael. My sister says Jim reminds her of me. I took that as a compliment.
That song was hilarious. I also loved Dwight's reasoning for sitting in the back seat and how he was getting 'pumped up' before the sales pitch. "Do you still do that" "Yes"
it was funny to see Michael not be insane and just Real and driven. i loved when he reached over and squeezed Andy's neck Rocket River
