I don't get that mentality. Best cast scenario there is a new season and its good. Worst case, it goes out on a down note? Who cares? Its not your problem, just don't watch it if you don't like it. Why are you trying to protect its reputation? Doesn't make sense. As a viewer only good can come from more episodes.
i think they should try and carry it on without Steve...who knows? It might help the show. I was totally surprised to see Timothy Olyphant on the show. <33333333
I can see the argument from both sides. Sure, it doesn't directly effect any of us if the show has a down season...but it's also similar to watching an aging basketball player trying to play well past his prime. It's painful to watch him struggle.
Well looks like he's gone by April at earliest! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/14/steve-carell-leaving-the-_n_809367.html
It's like watching the Office webisodes, which are done without Michael, Dwight, Jim, or Pam. Sure, it's not as good and not the same, but it's still funny to watch Kevin, Creed, Andy, Kelly and the others. I hope The Office continues to evolve and puts in another 4-5 years.
the 27th...according to Ricky. Will Arnett would be AWESOME. Please let it happen! Did his show get cancelled?
Pretty sure as it was a ratings and critical letdown, think Fox is just burning off episodes here and there.....
Scoop: Ricky Gervais Reclaims His Office Job! By: Michael Ausiello You know that faceoff between Office managers David Brent and Michael Scott that’s supposedly been in the works for, um, ever? Looks like it’s actually, finally gonna happen! Sources confirm that Ricky Gervais is poised to reprise his role from the original overseas version of the comedy in an upcoming episode of the U.S. redo. As you’d expect, details are sketchy. But what I’m being told is that Gervais — who not only created the British Office but retains an exec producer title on the American remake — will cross paths (and perhaps swords?) with his Yank counterpart, Steve Carell’s Michael. You’ll recall that last year Gervais hinted that he might be Dunder-Mifflin-bound this season, then producers denied anything was in the works. (Though the actor-comedian previously wrote an episode of the U.S. Office, this would be his first time appearing on screen.) The news of Gervais’ guest gig comes just three days after his no-holds-barred stint as host of the Golden Globes drew fire from Hollywood’s thinnest-skinned elite. Thankfully, a backlash to the backlash seems to be kicking in. Your thoughts? http://www.tvline.com/2011/01/scoop-ricky-gervais-reclaims-his-office-job/
I thought they filmed seasons way in advance. Didn't realize it was an ongoing process, that they actually filmed episodes for the current season as it was running. Kinda scary no?
I agree it seems like it'd be tense trying to film new episodes before the season starts. Maybe it was decided beforehand, but things like Carell wanting to leave early and now having to create a Gervais episode really push the window for having Michael Scott leave the show in a smooth fashion. It would be a real shame if the arc where Michael Scott leaves ends up rushed, like how Arrested Development had to tie up all their loose ends so quickly because of a shortened season.
