Both the British and American office is great in it's own way. The British one is short and brilliant, with a great payoff and basically no filler. The American one has a much deeper cast, is generally more fun, and has a lot more heart. They're both good but they really do feel like different shows after a while. The fact that the American office diverged from the original is probably why it became a success and not just a pale imitation.
i saw the original office before the american. the original was much more painful, awkward, uncomfortably funny. it felt much more like a real documentary and they left in all the quite moments that are found in a real office. the first few episodes of the american office rehashed some of the same bits from the bbc office, so i stopped watching. it wasn't until much later that i came back to it and found that it had developed into it's own show. very much different from the bbc, and also very funny. both are good. i like bbc better still, but i watch every american show.
That might have been one of the most epic deliveries of "that's what she said" I've ever heard on this show.
If people are allowed to say that the Office has jumped the shark after a mediocre episode, am I allowed to say that the Office is back after a great one? Well I am anyway.... THE OFFICE IS BACK!
Oh, and how about Andy's cheese lecture? Or Toby yelling out "a**hole"? Or Michael with the on-off phone thing? Geez, I can't stop laughing thinking about it.
Amazing episode. This was hands down one of the best episodes of the entire series!! From the cheese speech, to the cart, to the thats what she said...the ending...omg. This is top 3 in best Office episodes ever.
Spoiler When Jim was furious about Michael derailing his opportunity for a promotion, Michael was trying to explain that he did so because he didn't want to lose him and Pam (and the baby ... lol). Jim retorts, "So you decided to screw me?" The response came almost instantly, like a reflex reaction. He sort of said it under his breath too so we're not even sure Jim heard it.
Did you guys just catch Community? My dear lord it was beyond hilarious. I didn't get to watch Parks and Recreation but if it was even a little funny I think NBC pitched a shutout tonight with their shows. Nothing but pure gold.
I turned Community off about 10 minute in, I thought it was boring Parks was better than the Office imo. So far in this short season, Parks is my favorite network comedy.
Confusing Darrell's sister for him was classic. Toby and Dwight need to team up together more often. As much as I loathe the Pam/Jim storyline, the wedding should set up to be something special.
