why do you guys not like the last 2 seasons? I loved season 4 but will admit 5 fell off a little. That being said there is no network comedy that comes close to The Office imo.
i dont know, but season 4 rates as the worst of all the season, not necessarily due to the strike, though i'm sure more episodes might improve that season, but the episodes just arent funny my order of best to worst(relative) 2 3 1 5 4 season 1 was amazingly brilliant, but it was just too short
4 was garbage. Aside from a couple of funny moments, I did not like it. The last episode where Andy proposed to Angela was hilarious, but the rest stunk. Season 5 picked it back up a little and was decent. Not as good as 2 and 3, but solid. Hopefully 6 continues getting back on track.
my hypothesis is that people who don't view seasons 4 and 5 as rather weak probably got into the office late. because if you watch season 4 or 5 without having watched season 2, you don't have anything to compare these seasons to and admittedly, they are still better than most sitcoms on television. it's been several years since i've watched season 2, but it's still my favorite season of television EVER produced. the episodes actually took place in the office, and a party didn't occur every day. the jim and pam subplot was intertwined in the overall storyline without taking away from the humor. plus michael's behavior was still believable.

I think thats a pretty fair assessment. Season 2 ruled. I watched from season one and some people think I'm too critical of the show. Point is, however, they BROUGHT IT every episode, which people seem to take for granted now. Some of the stuff is still hilarious, but I think what the office still does much better than any other show is have phenomenal re-watch value. Practically every episode gets funnier with another viewing.
I'll agree that season 5 got more laughs from me than season 4. But I havent liked the direction season 5 took. It heavily followed Jim and Pam, which isn't anything new, but when its just to document their little relationship bumps, I can't stand it. When they're not following a Jim and Pam plot, Jim has showed a few signs of being a jerk that doesnt want to goof around, unless it involves solely him doing another prank. If it involves everyone, he'll say "let's get back to work" aka the Hilary Swank: Hot or Not episode. But he has no qualms spending what must have been a few hours running a mile of wire. And the Idris Elba arc was real bad, save for the last episode, probably because I knew that story was over. So season 4 in my mind is better, if only because I disliked season 5.
Less than 48 hours away. I know, random time to post...but I was watching Casual Friday on Hulu just now. "Oh it is on like a prawn who yawns at dawn."
they will get married and i predict that issues will arise from them being employed both as salesmen like someone else said, i wish they would go back to a mocumentary style show, if you look at season1, it very much felt like 'an office', but these days, its just a sitcom and it has lost it's mocumentary touch, though i wouldnt say it changed for better or worse, its definitely lost its touch and label as a 'mocumentary'
I love the office. That being said, I would be surprise if it made it to another season. With Jim and Pam having a baby and getting married, I think they will tie everything together this season and call it a series. The new show coming before the office called community is suppose to be funny, so I'll watch that also.
Unless its a false pregnancy, theyll be getting married. Pam, at least the Pam in my dreams, isn't going to have a kid with someone she's engaged to and decide not to get married. Unless you mean "NOT get married (this season)." But the show needs another big episode in my opinion, and while they still have Michael to mess with, they will have the wedding in this season as a failsafe NBC "event". I hate that guy that does all the voiceovers between shows and in commercials now.
My life is coming back to norma; Pro and college football games are back. NBA preseason is right around the corner.. and now The Office, 30 Rock, & It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are back !!
yes, i feel the same, except that Chuck isnt returning until 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG anyway, i hope the office rejuvenates, and restore to its season2 shape
I agree finally some sunny back in my life. I don't even have a problem with DeVito anymore. There was always debate about the show running out of material, but there was enough gems in last season to keep my hopes alive. Especially Night Man cometh, the end was hilarious.
I'm finally caught up!! Now, I can participate in this thread this year. I hope Holly comes back this season...I really liked her. Toby is useless...
