it was completely expected from 2 characters who were best friends, fell in love and now are getting married. it would be out of character for those 2 to not do something like that.
I think the point was that Jim knew the office would take over the wedding and essentially ruin the ceremony, which is why he had the boat as a backup plan.
The thought of you, in your office/cubicle, realizing the futility of life's existence because you were not able to see this brief glimpse of still-clothedness in a situation comedy, shocking or worthy of mention only to the Victorian eye, brought a single tear to my own. Here you go, champ. Here you go. Ahem, "Double your pleasure." (Clip not appropriate for work, for obvious reasons): Also, as has been posted above, video exists of the same actress detailing, in lurid detail, her preferred technique. Just saying, knock yourself out.
Also I was surprised that Michael didn't give Stanley a hard time for bringing Cynthia...Phillyis was only one that made a comment about him bringing her.
Holy Crap!! So Michael DID hook up with Pam's mom! My dvr stopped before that part and I just now caught the end on Hulu! Yes! They better address that in the next episode.
Major, Groogweipuwiwuakhlaskdeaux, let's not bring THAT discussion into this, please. I thought she was very good-looking in an innocent sort of way... but it wasn't Bob The Builder... it was this here character from Qubo: Spoiler
The moment with Jim smiling at the camera with Pam at niagara after all these years was so awesome and perfect and a great example of why this show is so good. Along with the Three Wolf shirt, of course.
I meant awkward for me, the viewer. Despite being a very short interaction, it still felt like the show lingered there a little too long. Kind of felt like something you'd see in "Deleted Scenes", and rightfully so.
agreed...a very fitting ending. i like this story a ton because i married my closest friend who happened to be dating someone else when we met...actually we both were. and the whole "how do i turn this into something more without risking losing my best friend" carried on for way too long and was very very real for me. maybe that's why i cut the whole jim and pam story so much slack while so many others seem to be bothered by it.
I think people get bothered by the Jim/Pam stuff because they think a comedy show should only be about laughs 100% of the time. I find the best comedy shows are the ones that show a little bit of heart and drama. It's why I liked Scrubs so much despite its very over-the-top comedy in some areas. People need to realize that this isn't a sitcom. If you want that, there's HIMYM and Two and a Half Men. The Office is what it is and that, from the very beginning, has included the relationship stuff between various characters. It's what makes it more realistic in my eyes.
I think a lot of people can identify with aspects of their relationship, which is why it has worked so well. So many things in Jim's attempts at making the relationship work - or suffering through the time he had to 'wait it out' or when it seemed it was not going to happen - are the part of a lot of 'real' relationships. Coincidentally, I also think that the reason some folks on the Internet have rallied so hard against it lately is because it was heading toward a 'happy ending'.
So, Pam and Jim snuck off alone and actually got married on the boat during a tour of Niagara Falls (Plan C). Then, after being already married, they show up late to the chapel for the wedding with all the people (Plan B) and went through the motions for the invitees...which turned into a dance wedding? Then, at the end, they are back on the boat all of a sudden? What an edit hack job that was there at the end.
Timeline: -Jim and Pam run off. -Jim and Pam are on the boat -Jim and Pam are in the chapel. If you ever saw Pam and Jim on the boat, it was after they ran away and before the dance party.
