if anyone thinks charles is a douche ask yourself this.......when's the last time your boss wanted to play a soccer game, pick up basketball, or whatever with the employees. you're just comparing him to michael scott
I, for one, cannot stand CHARLES. He's too GOOD of an employee. But he can't tell everyone is lying about liking what HE likes.
Exactly. Just because we don't see it, doesn't mean Jim doesn't work and work hard. If this was season one, I'd probably agree with the assessment that he's fine with being mediocre. But over the last few seasons, he seems to have made a shift to actually caring about his job and trying to advance up the corporate ladder. I'll agree that Michael liked Jim a lot and he doesn't receive the same treatment from Charles. But Jim's big mistake has been trying to play the game. That first episode where we see Charles, Jim made a pretty horrible first impression wearing a tux to work. He compounded the issue trying to explain the reason for the tux, then made things worse by trying to start over with Charles. You only get one chance at first impressions. Then he tried to stay out of it, but caved and acted like he played soccer. If he had just done his work and not tried to suck up to the boss, things might have been ok. If Andy had asked Charles out for a drink after work would he have said yes. My guess is no. He asked Dwight, yes, but only because he values Dwight's work ethic. But he really isn't making any other attempt to get to know everyone else at the office. The soccer game is too tainted for me to think Charles was being truly friendly with his subordinates. But I agree, he isn't really a douche...not so much as just a wrong fit for the office. Which begs the question why Wallace would have allowed him to stick his nose deeply into the inner workings of the Scranton branch; to try and change how things are run. Wallace knew that Scranton had the best sales numbers. So wouldn't he had done everything he could to keep Michael happy? Nothing wrong with debating a show you like. Same goes for films, music, video games. I once debated, I think it was 4 hours straight, with my friends how much Pearl Harbor (the film) sucked. I really hate that movie. What can I say, television/film is my passion.
I laughed out load several times this episode. Charles' faith in Dwight backfires (including Wallace talking about how surprised he was that Charles was such a Dwight-supporter). The Korean ladies getting in the van. Michael's "No. No. You're done" at the end was great. There was more, but that's all I can think of right now.
probably the 2nd best episode of the season! Dwight saying the stuff about the bees was beyond hilarious. I was actually trying to hold back from laughing so I could hear everything he was saying. Kevin saying "Hi" all late was gold.
I never went to Thailand. I went to Ft Lauderdale. Yeah, it was amazing. There's a great Pad Thai place though.
A+. I'll remember this episode for a long time. Long live hulu.com. My wife turned off the dvr 45 minutes before it started.
