I got flamed in the 24 thread for doing this- if an episode is aired, why are you using spoiler tags for it? If you havent seen the episode, dont click on the thread....

The episode was okay- I liked that Jim was back to the pranks

cuz some people are so sensitive

like i replied to something in spoiler without using a spoiler, and i got flamed, and guess what, it was the first episode of the first season of a new show.... yea... i really spoiled it for the rest of them guys....

anyway, i did not enjoy Jim's prank on andy, it felt forced, i hope he goes back to pranking dwight, though he might not do that since the new boss is breathing down his back since the getgo

yep. Andy is probably my favorite character. He seems like a genuinely nice guy unlike Dwight and Jim is a total Douche to him the whole time. I am kinda hoping the new guy fires Jim

Jim has douche tendencies sometimes but I don't think he showed them in this episode. His line to Andy about how the Angela situation sucked but he'll find somebody else was pretty cool.

The new boss is a douche. He's like the Dolores Umbridge of The Office. I keep hoping Omar and Brother Mouzone suddenly bust into the office and blast him.

    Good episode overall.

I am not sure where The Office is headed, but I am not really feeling the direction for some reason...

    Best line belonged to Micheal....

"I am going to steal all of your clients, and then I'm going to kill them in front of you."

    awesome.

I thought he was a douche at first, but then I realized I would be a prick to Jim if he was one of my employees. He never does **** and expects to be fine.

What makes you think Jim doesn't do anything? From what I've been able to gather on the show, he's a damn good salesman. Remember the episode where he went golfing in hopes to woo a potential client, and he wouldn't take no for answer until he made the sale. Or how bout the episode where he applied for the corporate VP position, a position that seems he was favored for during his interview with Wallace, until he decided he'd rather stay in Scranton. Or how bout when he transferred to the other branch and was set for a promotion under corporate's original plan for Scranton to be absorbed. Naw, the boss doesn't like him because he doesn't do s***, the boss doesn't like him because he THINKS Jim doesn't do s***, just because Jim likes to have a laugh every now and then and doesn't spend every single moment of company time working. Which is exactly why he likes Dwight.

Now I kind of thought the boss was a douche when he first arrived myself. Then I began to think...the very nature of the show has led me to feel like an actual member of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. You get comfortable in a particular setting, and then some new guy comes in and tries to turn everything upside down. That doesn't make the new guy bad necessarily. Doesn't make him a jerk. But what the new boss doesn't understand is that the utterly insane way the Scranton branch was run by the old boss actually worked. So why fix it if it ain't broken? So Charles may not be a bad guy. He just has is own way of doing things, which doesn't really fit well with the rest of the office.

In any case, Charles really isn't supposed to be branch manager. So why hasn't he found a replacement for Michael yet? My guess is he ends up handing the reigns to Dwight and Dwight completely f***s everything up. I can totally see that happening, but it might be too obvious.

Well Jim really has no one to blame but himself if he's not portraying himself in a positive light. You gotta play the game. Jim managed to get by under Michael because Michael thought Jim was "cooler" than Dwight. If Dwight makes himself look better under Stringer by working every single moment of the day, more power to him.

If I were Jim's boss, I'd be pretty annoyed that a guy with such potential is perfectly happy being mediocre. If Jim were "on" all the time, he might be the new branch manager himself by now.

Jim has worked hard a couple times, but how many times has he said "and that's all I did today" when talking about stuff he did to Dwight.

Lol. I love this show as much as anyone, but are we really getting in-depth analysis and seriously debating on a fictional characters work ethic?

What I didn't understand was that Jim was officially made the Number 2 guy in the branch by Jan.

But then when he's explaining that to Charles, Charles doesn't know anything about it AND he lets Charles believe that the position was made-up by him (or possibly by Michael). Even though Jan left in a bad way, surely Jim's status as #2 was an official corporate thing.

Yeah, but, it was just a few episodes ago that Wallace was talking about how the Scranton branch was doing so much better than any other branch (and sent Michael around to teach his secrets to the other branches). And surely Charles has access to the previous sales records, so he'd have to know that, despite appearances, Jim pulls his weight.
