Didn't say that. I said that only three or four people out of the small percentage of people who could tell the difference would care. The Office is not a top 20 show among Hispanic households, according to Nielson. And they don't break the numbers down into the various Nationalities. So fewer than 500,000 "Hispanics" watch the show, and of that number, there is a smaller number that's from Mexico or of Mexican descent (or from Cuba or of Cuban descent) and of that number, there's an even smaller number who are Spanish-speaking, and of that number, there's an even smaller number who can easily tell the difference between a Mexican and a Cuban accent. And of that number, there's probably only three or four people who care. It's more like 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the audience doesn't give a s**t.
Didn't see this until today. But since you asked, I am an Instrumentation Engineer and I live in the Deer Park/Pasadena area. That's as exact as I'm willing to get on my residence since this is the internet. May I ask why you wanted to know? Edit: Oh, and mrpaige articulated my feelings on the Spanish/Cuban accent thing way better than I did.
What I was going to say: How would you like for The Office to have someone say "Oh, we have an Instrumentation Engineer coming over to check out why we got locked in..." and he shows up with a hammer and some nails and can't fix the door? Seriously, though, that ain't right.
just like in harold and kumar escape from gauntamanomaanaolo bay (great movie, but NOT FOR KIDS), they had 2 japanese people playing harold's korean parents... no one except asians were able to tell the difference! i am outraged to think they can get away with this!!! swoly~ let it go buddy ::Love::
I would probably point out to my wife that they obviously didn't do their homework, and then promptly forget about it an episode later. I certainly wouldn't be expecting the mistake to be explained somewhere down the line.
I have a Japanese friend that pointed out to me one time that Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid movies was of Chinese decent and not Japanese at all. I sort of felt bad for not being able to tell.
Bola de güeyes . I am not making a big deal out of WHERE HE'S FROM, you numbnuts... I am making a big deal out of him speaking in a CUBAN accent. ¿Comprenden? You're right, Royals, I'll let it go.
Bola de güeyes = bunch of dumb*sses in español. You be the judge. Ya'll are still hung up on me saying he's CUBAN, when I'm talking about his ACCENT, not where' he's from. Certainly Mr. Miyagi was born in The U.S. and A. and didn't speak with a CHINESE accent, did he?
Holy ****, Swoly. You can be so ****ing irritating. No one is "hung up" on anything except for YOU. You're the only one that gave a **** that the tiny detail of accent was inaccurate! YOU. Not US! Royal Ego made the comparison to Harold and Kumar, which you can argue is not a good analogy (although I would hope you would do so without personal insult...but I guess that is beyond you) and I responded to HIM about my personal experience that was similar. My Mr. Miyagi post had NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. I shouldn't even have brought this back up to answer your question since mrpaige already explained this. I figured from your responses to him that you understood that most people wouldn't care. But I guess anyone that doesn't agree with you or who makes an argument that you feel isn't apt is a dumbass, or a numbnuts. Whatever. That personal insult **** does nothing but tell me how weak your position is. So I'm done discussing this. Especially with you. Go type some more smiley faces.
Pat Morita - real name, Noriyuki Morita is a japanese name, and his bio says he's the son of Japanese immigrants, so I don't know where your friend is getting this
"You know, if you don't know something Big Tuna, it's okay to say, 'I don't know.' You don't need to impress me."
Hmm...I never looked it up. She always told me he was a fake Japanese. Now I don't feel bad anymore! Thanks SamFisher. At any rate, to get the discussion back on track, anyone else predicting that Jim's proposal to Pam will be the season finale? I'm trying to decide where they will go with it. I certainly don't think they will just let the two get happily married. That's not their style. Either Pam says no for some reason...or they find some other way to throw a wrench into the works. I would guess that maybe Ryan will get busted back down to Scranton again because of drugs and that maybe Jim would be offered that position...but they already sort of did that conflict.
The title of this week's episode is "Did I Stutter?" That seems to me to foreshadow some type of proposal from Jim this week. Although, it could be a deliberate attempt to make people think that.
Here is the episode description for this week: **SPOILER*** **SPOILER*** **SPOILER*** Spoiler 4.16: Did I Stutter? Thursday, March 20th, 2008 Written by: Brent Forrester and Justin Spitzer. I want the office theme song as my ringtone, anyone know how to get 1? I've seen people on youtube with it.
Spoiler If you look at the promos for this week I think the fact that Pam is wearing glasses is the inconvenience.
