Nice low-key episode. Last week's episode might have been the funniest one all year, but this week's was good too. Nice to see Kevin get some screen-time, and Phyllis trying to pawn off her fat friend was hilarious. The Jim/Pam interaction/screen-time/tone was just right. Just enough to befit their co-starring status, but not too much to overwhelm the show. Although I'd like to see how the show would perform without having the action swirl around Michael, but I suppose that's basically how the show has always operated and isn't likely to change.
That could possibly be my favorite episode of the office ever. Everything Michael was saying was pure hilarity gold. "What's her name, Burger King?" "I just want to play catch with my son before I'm too old...but before that I need to get laid...and before that I need to be in love" And of course Oscar Meyer Weiner Lover. Him grilling Phyllis asking her if she's fat is one of my top scenes of the series. Almost as good as the time he said Phyllis was giving him a boner.
Whaa? I thought it was the worse.. too awkward as people said. I just felt uncomfortable.. and felt bad for Michael. I don't think I could take too many of those episodes - this weeks was back up to par though. I was LMAO at "Wendy".
Uncomfortable or not, I thought that "Dinner Party" had more laughs per minute and more big laughs than any other episode in a largely uneven season. Speaking of which, it's a shame that the writers strike torpedoed most of the season. The office tends to hit it's stride at about episode 6-7 and reels off a bunch of excellent eps in a row. Hopefully they finish the season strong.
Completely... These last 2 episodes have been strangely disturbing. Both very funny in different ways...but disturbing none the less. Are they trying a bit too hard and making Michael too over-the-top? Crying over the death of some model in another town that he saw in a catalog? That was just weird. Not funny. Just weird. The thing about Phyllis' friend was hilarious.
Hmm... When did Jan and Michael breakup? I thought in the last ep. the cops came and Jan was gluing the trophy back together...
She killed his plasma screen tv. It's over. Actually, I'm pretty sure she'll be back just because Jan has a huge rack and she's freakin hilarious.
i really enjoy corporate jan more than housewife jan the amount of inappropriateness when michael and corporate jan interact is priceless
I think my favorite moments of the episode were when Dwight kept off-handedly (and un-purposely) chipping away at the "dream woman" view Michael had of the chair model lady. First of all recounting everything he went through to find the girl then finally mentioning that she's dead and proceeds to give the grisly details with no emotion. And then the classic at the gravesite: Michael: She was so innocent Dwight: Apparently she was stoned *Michael just ignores the comment or isn't even listening. Michael: What do I do next? Dwight: "You wait until next year's chair catalog comes out and you find one that's still alive,"
Yeah the 10 inch plasma screen... rofl I didnt see the following episode after that but that one was pretty funny
Some of my favorite episodes The healthcare plan one The basketball game one Racist at work one. The money issue one where Michael gets a second job' ' FAVORITE QUOTE OF ALL TIME "Abraham Lincoln once said that "if you are a racist, I will attack you with the North." And those are the principles that I carry with me in the workplace" ^michael
This episode took place months after the Dinner Party episode. The Dinner Party episode took place right after the Deposition and the time period when the writers were on strike is the amount of time that elapsed between the Dinner Party and this episode.
Me too. Jan just looks like the hot corporate boss type. In the first 3 seasons that was the perfect role for her. Michael and Jan conversions during that time was just hilarious because of the roles.
Ohhh~ I didn't catch that. Thanks for the clear up. I thought I was either watching an older episode that I forgot or I missed some episode in between.
Actually if you go by one of the deleted scenes, the time jump was about a "month". <embed allowNetworking="all" allowScriptAccess="always" src="http://widgets.nbc.com/o/4727a250e66f9723/480957b36b30d62" width="384" height="283" quality="high" wmode="transparent" id="W480957b36b30d62" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> </embed>
