I watched it tonight, and enjoyed it. I'm also glad its after Scrubs (the only show I watch consistently), that other show it replaced was only so-so. btw, did anyone watch "The Sketch Show"? also a british remake, but they actually have a british guy in it. For those with short attention spans, its a great show to watch.
Tonight's episode was hilarious. I wish more people would watch it so it could put to rest the whole "minorities can tell racial jokes, why can't we" whining crap. Of course, I'll open this thread tomorrow and hear that there is uproar about the episode. "They're collard greens" "That doesn't make any sense. They're not called collard people."
I watched half of the show then turned it off. I guess I was expecting "Office Space" and got some kind of weird over-the-top production of a quasi office environment. I couldnt really grasp the comedy in it. I dont like "Scrubs" so maybe thats the reason I didnt like this show either. I didnt laugh at all.
I actually did get some office space vibe from it... the only thing that was missing was music in the background (which kinda helps the comedic timing sometimes). I also bet more people would laugh if there was a laugh track telling them when to laugh.
Some pretty funny moments, and it's nice to see a show outside the usual sitcom mold...but i found the main character far too annoying. Don't expect i'll watch again...
I had high hopes going in, but wasn't that impressed. Anything that was mildly amusing all came from the same guy, and he wasn't even that funny. I've only seen one show though. It's no Still Standing, that's for sure.
Not only sitcoms but also game shows and the so called 'reality shows' "Who wants to be a Millionaire" (Almost exactly the same as the original British version including set design music and even that catch phrase 'Is that your final answer' ) "Whose Line is it Anyway" (again almost exactly the same as the Original British version including the actors) "Weakest Link" "Survivor"? (not 100% sure about this one) ...
No, I can't. I'm curious to see a scenario where you could end up with 4/30ths of any race (and you'd actually know about it... like the Office guy pretended to). I'm not talking about genetic traits, with autosomal dominance, incomplete penetrance or anything like that... just a simple lineage of how somebody can end up being 4/30ths (or 2/15ths) native american, indian, french, irish, whatever.
Yeah I've seen that, it's very hit or miss but some of the sketches are pretty funny while other are groan inducing. Still some good laughs to be had. Me and my wife are watching this and we both haven't seen the orginal, we both like it and thought last nites show was really funny.
D*mn. I thought it seemed pretty logical with incest or an ancestor being the father (or mother) with two other ancestors, one could end up with only 15 ancestors instead of 16... i.e. 15ths. Of course, that doesn't work since that person counts twice and you still have 16, even if there's only 15 unique ancestors. Oh well.
i haven't seen the american version yet (i plan to tonight), but i own season 1, season 2, and the christmas special of the british version on dvd...it is easily the funniest television show i've ever seen...arrested development is a close second...
