The offical Trump Tariff thread

It doesn't matter where it came from. And it came from the massive spending over the last several years. At least DOGE is trying to do something about it.

As I said, I don't have an opinion on these tarrifs. I don't know the impact and anyone pretending they do signals to me they are nothing more than NPCs parroting their favorite form of propaganda.

 

I love how it’s only been a few weeks and we are at new levels of stupidity with this administration.

The supply chain issues took a bit more time. Inflation was under control when Biden left office.

Now you have a guy hell bent on overzealous tax cuts. More than that energy prices are under control, and Trump won't make them an lower because his claims of too much regulation are ignorant

I don’t disagree this is an overall stupid strategy. But the full effects won’t be felt immediately so there will be a lag time to try and blunt the effects

 

Trump does not have the power to impose tarriffs, CONGRESS needs to start challenging all this ****.

If you give a **** about great power stuff, US was doing great post pandemic - China has been struggling. The whole thesis of China as inevitable global hegemon looked stupid, and Xi chairman for life kept putting up Russ Westbrook 3s.

Now Trump - a complete idiot who promised to destroy American power abroad - is doing exactly that.

We know at least some of the impacts of the tarrifs. Anyone acting like we don't is ignoring the fact that tariffs have been used many times. This isn't the first time.

 

This is why literally everyone except for that hobgoblin Stephen Miller went on record after they left office working for Trump that he’s a complete moron who is unfit to run anything much less the most powerful country in the world.

This isn’t even a good strategy politically if they actually are allowed to run their elections like a normal state would. This would ensure at least 2 more Dem Senators and like what…. 20 or so Dem House Reps giving the Dems guaranteed control of Congress for the near future.

I’m all for Canada being the 51st state or the 52-55th state. Make Greenland the 56th. Goodbye GOP.
