Russia and China have been fighting for years about the new pipeline that was going to transfer gas to China. The CCP demanded that RU do it at cost as they are helping RU with their war in UKR and RU refused and demanded they pay market rate. Their friendship is bullshit and build around nothing but money. China gets most of their oil from Iran/Gulf. They dont really give a **** about RU other than a method to antagonize US.

The EU is the second largest market in the world. They've been trying to sweet talk the Germans for years now but Biden was able to successfully keep EU away from China. ASML one of the largest European corporations joined the American export controls which was devastating for their bottom line.

The Europeans see no reason not to pivot to china now that Trump has betrayed them. Where I live in EU the sentiment has rapidly changed to being pro CCP and everyone here hates Trump.

80% of Europeans find Trump the biggest threat to their national security. Yall @Invisible Fan just dont understand how pissed everyone is here at Trump

Trade didn't slow down during Covid. It came to a global halt. And yet, life went on.

You guys over here acting like 10% tariffs is going to be Covid 2.0, then turn around and argue who is paying for tariffs.

It’s not about admiring and respecting Europe….weird emotional response by you….

Because I’ve listened to podcasts with Draghi as a guest (such as Odd Lots which I’d highly recommend) and he’s talking about his report when he first published it.

Draghi doesn’t talk about the lack of EU competitiveness due to laziness or neglect….. But as structural because it’s very hard to get consensus and then political action due to the nature of member countries and how the EU system is structured.

Did some European broad break your heart or something? Yeesh.

Well 24 hours ago the Art of The Deal had tariffs above 10%….

You simply lack the required nuance to understand the issue is the lack of coherent plan and the constant backpedaling…. Just stumbling blindly, running into crap.

I'm talking about the trade war Trump is starting with China. We have no leverage with them. The trumpers are saying China needs us and what I just proved is China doesn't need us very much. I'm not saying trying to build a manufacturing base in the US isn't a worthy endeavor, but to think we can have our cake and eat it too is just nationalistic fantasy.

Dow dropping again as the euphoria over Trump’s backpedaling abates.

I have already stated my opinion. Not that I expect you to read it, but perhaps chill with the assumptions. You are programmed to believe and parrot party lines.

You have proven your opinion changes based on whatever the last tweet told you.

Accusing someone of doing exactly what you are doing seems to be the course of action your kind likes to take.

I don't have much of an opinion on the tariff conflict with China. It is simply too broad of a topic to watch a 5 minute video, much less an hour of a video on Politico, to have a full understanding.

I do believe we need to revitalize our manufacturing base. And I am not sure how much more I can handle the stupid comment "bring back manufacturing jobs".
lol @ US has no leverage. I am just trying to imagine how someone would actually believe we have NO leverage. Do you really believe this country is that impotent?

Maybe its time to put that chinese flag in your profile.

I read hundreds of posts a day. I disagree with most of them. I post the ones that irritate you the most.

Yup - he largely became wealthy through luck and exploitation. The owner of Canton took a shine to him as he was in the office next to him. He then ingratiated to the owner and became his do all right hand man. When the owner was sick - he took over the company by making lots of overly generous promises to others to support his leverage move. It worked - barely, and the widow and other members ultimately decided to give up fighting.... the guy then begged NY politicians for money post 9-11 and granted every single media interview possible and hired a PR firm to help him become famous.

Being in NYC he knew the real squeeze was with the democrats, so he aligned with them - until he realized they would take his money and fundraisers but wouldn't put him in any real position of economic authority. Ever the opportunist he realized Trump would trade favors for money and support - and he started dumping time and money into Trump and here we are ..... he will ultimately be sacrificed by Trump if things go poorly in the most Machiavellian terms possible, but guy knows he is a greasy and sleezy toad and like the fat frat boy in the 1990's, he will gladly gorge on sloppy fifths with the nasty big boned rich girl passed out with her skirt pulled up over her head after too many Jagger bombs while Dave Matthews lightly plays in the background at 3:00 am.

So if we have little to no leverage, then it's better double down hard nao before have even less leverage, which is exactly where we are because the maths be mathin when it comes to time and manufacturing dominance.

Loss aversion from the market is strong. Enough for the haves to holding the have-nots responsible for Trump and resenting them for it.

I think there is some truth to the fact that some things need to evolve and change - and I also think that there is some truth to the idea that a weakness of our form of government is that those in positions of power are often unable or afraid of making changes.

Having said that - what Trump and his people are doing is akin to my wife mentioning that she felt our living room decor could stand updating, and while she is out looking for a new chaise lounge to go next to the piano, I have set the house on fire with the dogs and children in it and am in the process of murdering my next door neighbors with jab saw I found in the garage.

This…. Folks are justifying stupid courses of actions just because they’ve all of sudden become convinced the world is against America.

It sucks, but the right wing media apparatus is just far more effective at outrage which is why so many conservatives continue to get hoodwinked.
