For people who don't know Alex Jones, enjoy:

    http://www.infowars.com

These guys are based about a mile from where I live. They are absolute nutcases and believe 9/11 was a gov't conspiracy, etc. I love that their philosophy is "the media lies to you! you shouldn't believe anything they say! but believe everything we tell you because it's the truth!"

It's really simple to understand.....guess I need to break it down to a level lower than Pre-K....

If any kind of documentary is "Liable" to be riddled with untruth's......why should any smart, educated person give two seconds of their life towards it?

Most people that make a documentary about anything will add half truths or spun ideas into it in order to make their point. Which to the educated and "think for yourself" types.....means it is probably BS.

Do I think Micheal Moore is full of sh!#? Yes. He manipulates facts.....creates less than half truth's.....and it entices people to believe his point. Make fiction into fact.

Sorry to say....but it has to be all fact or all fiction. You cant have it both ways. If you need half truths or speculation to help make your point......you need to do more research.

    Does that make sense?

No it doesn't make sense, but I will say that yours is one of the newer conspiracy theories I've ever heard: about documentary films. You've just panned them all.

Anything that asserts facts is "liable" to be in error because sometimes facts are slippery little things. One man's fact is another man's fancy.

Would you stop with all the silly insulting talk; it's beneath us all. Demeaning someone because they don't agree with you is a sure sign of desperation.

You put words in my mouth. You make gross generalizations which invalidate all documentay films. Let me know when you find a reasonable standpoint from which to discuss this.

You have a weird definition of "fact" - I think the rest of us call that opinion. Facts are, by definition, things that are true. Not one man's fancy. Not things that are slippery or partially true. People don't get to have their own different facts.

    Hold that thought...

I am not demeaning you.....just think your logic is a little out there. My bad brother.....not trying to come off as a dick......

But back to the point. I am not putting words into your mouth. How can you say this and expect any logical person to take it seriously?

How could anyone consider a video to be more than what it is.......garbage......when you admit it yourself that it 'is liable to riddles with untruths.'

I was not including all documentaries...just those that include half truths or speculation in order to piece together their idea. Which IMO.....negates the whole damn thing.

It just does not add up. Sorry.....but these 'theory based arguments' I see all over the place are a waste of time.

Follow the money trail... who owns all the 5 major media corporations? Who stands more to gain by spinning and lying? Alex Jones may seem like a 'nut', but I think it is far more 'nutty' to believe everything the government and the media tell you. From what I've read, the USA has roughly the 44th freest press in the world. The government must be a ton of geniuses for knowing that Osama Bin Laden was the prime suspect in 9/11 within hours of the attacks, yet didn't have the intel to stop it.

Since they are publicly owned, they are owned by millions upon millions of shareholders all over the country.

Conspiracy theorists. Alex Jones would be a nobody without it - he needs conspiracies to be relevant in the world. News organizations would have news to report regardless.

And even more nutty to question it all "just because".

Where did you read that - in the media, perhaps? Why do you believe that, if the media is suspect?

Generally, it's much easier to know who's responsible for a crime *after* it's committed because of things like ... evidence. If I know you're planning to blow up a building, but not which one... and then a building blows up tomorrow, you'd probably be my prime suspect, especially if the rest of the evidence matches up.

I understand your point and can't disagree... except to say that you're being too objective. People commonly assign things as facts that are not. Some things are indisputably facts but other things are not yet they are presented as facts.

Example Fact: Lee Harvey Oswald acted as a lone gunman. Alternate fact: LHO was but part of a conspiracy. The most available evidence points to the lone gunman theory, but (some) smart people have been asserting the alternate fact for almost five decades now. Books have been written.

People casually tout a theory as if it were a fact. Somewhere in the universe every fact is known dead certain, but in human events many "facts" are perception or opinion.

Many things you you "know as fact" are potentially wrong.

The problem I have with your position is that you are prejudiced that you already know everything; how do know if something is a half-truth? Which half do you cling to? How do you know that you are right everytime you identify a lie or the truth for that matter.

Everyone speculates. "Speculation" is in the eye of the beholder.

ClutchFans is nothing but a theory-based argument--- except for the box scores...

The obama deception? Isn't this like zeigeist or that other wingnut movie? I had a friend FORCE me to watch that. Then I showed him a site that debunked everything in that movie. He never mentioned the movie again to anyone.

I'll say this, of course there's money in politics and a lot of politics is talk. That's been the nature of leadership since we were running around the jungle. That's the way society works. Nothing earth shatterening about it.

i think there is more people that have only there own interests at heart and no one elses.

ive read books like atlas shrugged and understood the point ayn rand is trying to get across, but there has to be a line.

is there not enough for everyone in this world? do people have to profit from other people dying? why does tmac get to make millions and millions a year while he makes videos about people dying in africa? while we spend a few million here and there on a bomb while that one bomb would save thousands of lives with food. humans may never get it right.

“Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.”
    Mark Twain

"Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things

Wow. Wasn't this the local color crackpot screaming from the bullhorn in Linklater's Waking Life?

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JJXspT2VtOE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JJXspT2VtOE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Not as cool as the guy who sets himself on fire, but I'm guessing the director did not include him in the film to represent a peer of this guy on the metaphysical profundity spectrum.

I'm going to listen to the whole thing as background noise while I'm on the computer, but anyone capable of glossing past the oligarchy's responsibility for JFK's assassination to get to the deeper "truths" in the piece needs to reassess his/her worldview.

If that is the case then the maker lost this audience when he started using them. I don't believe right wing actors and musicians any more than I believe Streisand or Clooney.

I don't take every documentary as "stupid crap," just the ones made about politics. Without fail, they (political documentarians) are a collection of idealogues patting themselves on the back while demonizing the other side. I can do without any of that garbage from either side.

A quick google search actually says 36th freest, but I don't get this whole "LOL USING MEDIA TO FIND FAKTS THAT ATTAK THE MEDIA O THE IRONY" thing. Am I supposed to just make up this stuff? Also, are you actually arguing that our media the 'freest' and that it's absurd for me to question the corporate control over it?
