It seems to have been produced with a strong right wing slant as I intimated with my talk of it being the opposite side of the same coin that Michael Moore's face is on. I was mistaken, I watched the first 2.5 minutes of the "film" and here are some specific things that turned me off... -Obama's face with the term "Youth Brigades," which seems to be one of the new right wing perjoratives judging by the commentary served up when one searches for the term "youth brigades" (including the quotes) in Google. -Man with a bullhorn outside the White House yelling "we are standing against your tyrrany" when he obviously doesn't know the difference between tyrrany and a democratically elected leader. This piece appears to be an inflammatory film produced with a right wing slant that I won't subject myself to for the same reasons that I don't watch Michael Moore's stuff. I prefer to read as much of the primary source material as I can find on a subject and then come to a conclusion based on facts and available evidence. I don't want spin, I want facts.
I'm closer to the smartest guy than the dumbest guy but, even so, I would never think I knew the nuance of some two hour piece until I had viewed it. No you don't need to watch it ... at all... spin piece or whatever. My objection is to people who have not seen it denigrating it without having seen it. That's a little much it would seem to me.
You do realize that these same guys' last 6-7 productions were vicious attacks against Bush and the previous administration, right? There IS a bias in the vid, as well as the others, but it is anti-political and anti-corporation, which will understandably cause it to appear to be strongly in favor of whichever party isn't in office at the moment. Like I said, there's plenty to disagree with in it (and vice versa), and after researching, a lot of factual evidence, as well. If you're going to criticize it, at least watch enough to do it for the right reasons.
Again, I don't need to watch it as I already believe the premise. I don't need to know about these guys' previous works because they are using rappers, actors, and inflammatory statements to try and "prove" their point because they want outrage, not calculated reasoning. Michael Moore's stuff has plenty of factual information as well, but I won't watch it either.
He knows that, at this point. He just doesn't want to watch it. No biggie. Not worth discussing with him, then. I liked the video because it's maker stressed research and critical thinking on the part of the viewers. You don't see that a lot in most spin media. Also, these guys are overall consistent in their ideals. Not sure about the part with Kennedy though. I know a lot of this is conspiracy theory, but that was a bit TOO conspiracy theory-y for me (somewhat believable, but impossible to support at this point). Still, the way Obama's election has placated much of the outraged masses without much really changing yet is rather disturbing (and I voted for him). Real political discussion amongst a lot of people in my area has really died down. I could see a lot of this process being calculated. Time will tell, I guess.
Mr. Giddy, will you please provide some sort of proof that substantiates this bold statement made in the first 20 minutes of the video: "you even have officials are threatening to jail people for criticizing Obama"? do it, and I promise I will continue watching.. This is the ultimate "wingnut tryna be smart!11!" strategy where you offer some concessions (ie: "hey, Bush is a r****d too!") to get "objective" people to watch, just to go ahead and put on the little smear show on OBama/libpigs.. it's old, it's stupid really, and when you have "experts" stating B.S like the one mentioned above as true $#it, it ain't worth my time.. I'm sorry that you are SOOO open minded for all of us.. we just don't appreciate how great this piece is, and it is obvious that the proof of that statement is in the hotdog..
No I won't. I'm not here to espouse every single thing expressed or implied by the movie. It's provocative. There is probably some truth and some untruth in it. The education is in watching it and adding it to the mix of your knowledge. To prejudge and reject it based on a few scant pieces of evidence is as bad as believing every word of it.
You must understand the REAL background structure of your goverment in order to understand KRS-One explanation. Just watching the 2 minutes of the film and shutting it down because you see a rapper that understands and start talking doesn't make any sense. If you want to take every documentary as a Michael Moore stupid crap that doesn't explain anything..He goes ON and ON and ON making Bush look like the bad guy but, doesn't take time to go into REAL 9/11 facts.. So yeah...Obama is going to bring in "CHANGE" and fix all of our "ECONOMIC RECESSION" and we live happily ever after To each it's own..the true shall set you free.
The only valid point the video makes is about Obama's staff, he talked about changing Washington, blah blah blah, then he gets everyone who's already part of 'old washington' to join his team. I had some friends who told me this would happen...its just strange....it appears like its a big club with two groups putting on an act.
So what your saying.....or IMPLYING is that this can be the truth. Or it can be 100% packed full of horse sh!#! You got me convinced! Down with Obama! Down with the system!
That doesn't even resemble what I said. I said there are certainly elements of truth and untruth in it... that's very different from the all-or-nothing scenario you are trying to force. Up with education!
Ok.....let me dumb it down a level..... Isn't that what we are talking about here? How can you take anything for it's word when you know there is "possible" un-truth's involved? Problem is....many like to add out of context info to support their agenda. When a hint of Horse Sh!# is there......most logical thinking people will disregard the rest. Down with the school system you were raised in!
Yep, this is the main point of the movie. Also, the point of 'conspiracy theories ' is not necessarily to convince you of anything, only to open your eyes to a possible alternate view of reality. I look at conspiracy theories the same way I look at 'official government reports', except most of the CT guys don't stand to make nearly as much financially by lying or covering things up. Anyone who watches this video and comes out saying, "ok I think it's plausible that the government could be corporately controlled with a 2-party facade used as a distraction" has gotten enough out of it.
Damn, man, you have some fine haughty attitude! Any untruth contained in the video is not in there because it is known to be untruth. Any kind of documentary is liable to be riddled with untruths. We haven't even delved into half-truths... Nor did I say take it "for it's word." I just said watch it and consider it. You do know there could be some truth in there that just goes over your head, don't you, or are you one of those guys who is right all the time?
