Caris Levert with the 20th pick
Jarret Allen with the 22nd pick
Joe Harris and Spencer Dinwiddie off waivers
Nic Claxton with the 31st pick

Is it luck if it keeps happening?

Yes. It just shows you there is no way to reliably predict who among the big men will bust out thats cuz its usually their bball IQ, work ethic and health that make the difference and thats not really something you can predict from a couple years of scouting. So you just have to be lucky the dude you pick isnt a bust.

Hasheem Thabeet couldve been a max player if his brain was swapped with Chuck Hayes.

Who knew Clint Capela would end up making 16M a year and be called a steal whereas Nerlens Noel would be on his xth 1 yr 4M contract? I certainly didnt lol.

Then why does it seem like the Nets are able to do that again and again and again?

They didnt do it this year. Joe Harris and Dinwiddle arent even big men.

If you wanna talk getting serviceable players off the bottom of the draft Rox have also done that multiple times in the Morey era. Hell Stone just got Tate and Kmart Jr this year. I'm not sure what your point is now tbh. What are you trying to say?

I'm saying drafting Claxton wasn't luck.

? Lol ur evidence is Nets drafting Dinwiddle and signing Joe Harris? How are those even connected?

Nuggets drafted Jokic in the bottom of the 2nd round and he better than all those guys combined. If it wasnt luck why did the Nets pass on him, Marc Gasol, Clint Capela and Mitchell Robinson?

Nets recent draft history include such gems as Rodions Kurucs, Jay Scrubb, Dzanan Musa and Alexander Vezenkov. You cant just list a couple of good picks and say the Nets have the NBA draft solved lmao.

    It's called good scouting.

Like the report I posted which has been available since 2019. You argued the Rockets had no idea that Claxton was good. That's an indictment of the Rockets. You said it, not me.

Good scouting doesnt mean you dont rely on luck. No scout will say they have perfect accuracy they can increase your chances of hitting the best talent but that doesnt mean it will always be accurate.

Lots of teams have good scouts again what is your point? Rockets themselves have a good scouting team do you know players called Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Luis Scola, Clint Capela, Chuck Hayes, Chandler Parsons? Having a good scouting didnt prevent Morey from missing on Kawhi Leonard and Jokic.

Yeah its an indictment that the Rox didnt know Claxton was good how does that relate to drafting big men needing luck?

Then it's fair to hold the front office accountable for botching the Harden trade. I think that's what the comment that you originally replied to was getting at.

How did they botch the Harden trade? They got good value for Harden. Yeah its a mistake to not ask for Claxton but that hardly botched up the Harden trade.

Rodrians Kurucs and Claxton were both unknowns prior to the trade Nets themselves didnt play Claxton a single game until after the Harden trade. Last season Claxton only averaged 10 mins a game and he averaged 4 pts and 3 rebs. Lol you wanna say the Rox botched the Harden trade cuz they didnt know Claxton would pop off? Bruh he had 0 mpg per game for the season before Harden arrived in Brooklyn. He was injured from training camp till their 33rd game doesnt matter how good Rox scout team was if they cant see him play.

Sixers package with a legitimate all-star and defensive player of the year candidate was a superior package. The owner and his child like grudge wouldn’t make the deal with Morey. Not to mention with Brooklyn they shipped of Allen who is an up and coming center and LaVert who is not only superior to Oladipo but also younger.

Locked up Beal last game. Dame and CJ this game. On the perimeter. They both even reset and went at him again after he stifled their initial attack.

Imagine the Nets defense when both KD and Claxton are playing together.

You mean sixers package that would have included two rookies who turned out to be scrubs, that package? The package that would have given the Rockets 3 brokeback shooters and a low FRP, that package? Lmao. Simmons is great but just Simmons and 1 protected FRP isnt a superior package to the Nets, not by a long shot. Dont get me started on a rant regarding Thybulle and Maxey, the two rooks CF were drooling over at the start of the season.

They shipped off Allen cuz he an upcoming free agent and not paying him gave the Rockets 30M in cash and a protected frp. Blah blah blah you dont care about somebody else's money ok whatever.

Levert was ok, but tbh I dont really care about Levert he hasnt really been impressive either on the Nets or esp in Indiana. If we were building something around C.Wood then it might be worth keeping him but since we are not he woulda just been another dude we need to trade away.

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/leverca01.html

Dipo was a better gamble since his ceiling is higher and he was also an expiring. Your post seems like you first started from hating Fertita and his son and built all your arguments around that. If you hate the owner so much it skews everything the Rox do in your eyes maybe its time to follow another team, at least until Fertita sells to somebody else.

Beal, Dame and CJ are 30 ppg scorers and he’s out there defending them in space, contesting their shots and doing it without fouling. The ability to not foul and still be able to contest is also super impressive.
