As I understand it, it's standard practice for "one-dimensional" head coaches to turn the other side of the ball over completely to the coordinator. That's why a Sean Payton (or Mike McCarthy) hires a Gregg Williams (Dom Capers) - I guarantee you, he's not over Williams' (Capers') shoulder micro-managing the defense. He's over with the offensive staff doing what he does best.

Now, you can very definitely argue that, technically, the Jet game is Kubiak's fault for turning his defense - not once but TWICE! - over to an inexperienced DC. And I would 100% agree. But in terms of in-game management - it's Bush's call all the way.

Again, that's how I understand it - even a guy like Belicheck reportedly rarely engages the offense during a game.

Maybe he should have punched his Jason Allen's parents square in the face.

Seriously, where does the buck stop?

Jason Allen? Did Jason Allen make that ridiculous call?

Until the Texans prove that they can win at least 10 games and get into the playoffs, they will be the same old Texans. Talent isn't really the issue. Yes, the defense needs to be much, much better, but for the last 3 years you could say there were 4-5 games a year that if only it had gone right the Texans would have won (this past year there were about 7-8 games like that!!!)

There should be absolutely no expectations for this team to do anything special. It probably won't even matter if the defense is better, because I'm sure Kubiak's team will find other ways to lose games...

Three years ago Schaub couldn't stay healthy. Then the next season Schaub was healthy and the running game sucked. Last year Schaub was healthy AND the run game was spectacular, BUT THE DEFENSE WAS NONEXISTENT!!! I'm sure this year it'll just be something else... Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised to see them start the season 9-0, only to lose the last 7 games, miss the playoffs by a game, and award b****-ass Kubiak another contract extension for ANOTHER 9-7 season.:(

No, but he let Braylon Edwards burn him down the sideline with help over the top... Sometimes players just have to make plays. As horrible as a defensive strategy as that was, it was just as horrible of a play by the defense.

Allen got hung out to dry by his idiot DC. Everyone in the freaking country knew that formation wouldn't work. If a coach puts his players in a position to fail, that's on the coach.

Stop it. All of you. I can't relive this nightmare again.

This really is an abusive relationship, complete with symptoms of PTSD.

My "moment" was after the Monday Night game against the titans the year before. How about not letting the opposing QB rush for 73 yards, most of which came on 3rd down on the game-winning drive?

Which Kubiak protégé was that? Frank Bush? No, the other Kubiak protégé Richard Smith. I get them all mixed up.

I didn't have a "moment". I just slowly slid downhill the rest of 2010 into an abyss of "holy crap; really? *sigh*".

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (like another 5-7 season), Courage to change the things I can (like not watching anymore), And wisdom to know the difference (yeah, as if I can stop watching).

I didn't have a moment either. I just remember hating that they gave him an extension after 2009 so whenever I gave up on him, it must've been before that.

    Teams with zero primetime games:

    Cardinals
    Bills
    Panthers
    Bengals
    Browns*
    Titans
    Texans*

That is some seriously sad company.

    * - teams have an NFL network Thursday game, but I don't really count that, since it isn't even basic cable.

Also, did you know that, even though the Titans finished with the same record as the Texans, by virtue of the Texans winning the tiebreaker over them, the Texans get to play the Dolphins and the Raiders while Tennessee gets to play the Broncos and the Bills (not to mention getting to pick 3 spots behind the Titans, who are primed to pick up a pass rusher that will undoubtedly covet)

Thank god we beat those Jaguars to end the year! Positive momentum baby! CAN YOU FEEL IT?!
