You made a point at first but obviously biased. Yao for Ellis and Biedrins? Luckily Morey is anything but an idiot.

Morey has simply extended Yao's window of opportunity for a championship.
Allowing him some good years beyond the TMAC ERA

Last year folx said we had a two year window
I think the youth movement will allow us more beyond even next 2~3 yrs from now

So speaking the truth from a business stand point and not a popularity stand point makes you a Yao Hater... WOW!!!!

Well put me on that list also....

I say let both Tracy and Yao go and replace them with D-Wade and C-Bosh, with our current guys of Artest, Battier and Scola.... Hard nose, athletic and all with plenty of heart...

So now we get back to being Rocket fans and not T-Mac or Yao only fans...

I'm a huge Yao fan, but if he does something stupid, like hold the ball around his nuts in heavy traffic, the guy deserves to be called out for it. If that gets someone on a "list," then I know a good use for the paper. Just make sure it's soft.

We should sign Yao to an extension, and I'm sure we will. We should extend Scola this summer, as well.

i believe it's more than "some"... but obviously Yao is going to earn more in Golden State which is nearer to San Francisco and has a bigger (Asian) market.

People who think the focus has shifted from winning this year are sadly mistaken.

The direction of "HOW TO WIN" has shifted, but the focus is exactly the same.

The next step for this franchise is playoff success - THIS YEAR...followed by the jettosing of the most overpaid prima donna in NBA history.

    For these folks:

    Durvassa
    Thacabbage
    Summer Song Giver
    Ncagg42
    Bob718

I won't call them haters. They are just doubters or non-believers.

However, those dudes are certainly haters.

That's a pipe dream but just for kicks, imagine this rotation...

    Lowry / Brooks
    Wade / Wafer
    Artest / Battier
    Scola / Landry
    Bosh / a decent backup C

Wade and Bosh will both get max contracts so that alone makes this highly unlikely, even if you assume they both wanted to play for the Rockets. Then, you have to consider what Artest and Battier would be making and that Scola, Lowry, Brooks and Wafer would all likely be getting raises.

Still, it's fun to think about. I believe only Artest, Battier and Scola would be over 30 among that group. Our lack of athleticism would certainly be a thing of the past.

I think we are going to make a move with his expiring contract for two very good players that have contracts expiring past 2010.

I don't think the focus has shifted away from winning this year. The team obviously wants to win this year and they have the talent to do so. I just see more of a focus on the future than I have in the past. It started last year when Luis Scola got the starting job and when Landry became a key member of the rotation. It continuted on in to this year with the move to dump francis, giving Brooks the PG job, playing Von Wafer, and trading Rafer for Lowry.

but how am I gonna dream about the FA class of 2010 then? Hmm...Joe Johnson...Steve Nash..

yeah, whos got a contract beyond 2010 thats worth taking? the superstars all expire in 2010. much rather have capspace, although my main concern is another wasted season and another wasted year of yao and scola's career if we just hanged onto tmacs 23mil

That's the plan, but we will not be able to know if that is true until the playoffs begin.

Unfortunately,we probably won't have any other choice.I do want to give Artest a 3 yr 9 M contract but if he wants a lot like 11 -13 M plus for 4-5 years then the Rockets should explore a sign and trade. I'm starting to think Ron might not get as much as he wants on the market, although I might be wrong.
I would give management a 70% chance of re-signing him.

We need a good six man and a PF/C that can shoot 3 and has decent defense
