    that was the overwhelming sentiment after the Vietnam War.

    Alas, history always repeats itself
    • in the 1950/60s, France gladly handed off its Vietnam quagmire to the Americans
    • in early 2000s, Russia gladly handed off its Afghanistan quagmire to the Americans
    ​


    the $ not wasted in Afghanistan would have paid for

    • infrastructure projects, including the bullet trains
    • clean energt
    • Medicare for all
    • etc
