If the Lakers don't end up resigning Howard they rented Howard for a year at the cost of Bynum. Howard was going to walk anyway at least Orlando got something out of the deal.
I've got to agree with this. In a couple of years when Pierce and Garnett are retired this will look like a good trade. If Boston gets lucky in the lotto, it will be a really good trade. My guess is they shop Rondo and go into full tank mode for the Wiggins sweepstake. With luck and cap room they can rebuild the team in one year or two years while New Jersey is stuck in luxure tax hell without draft picks. Plus Ainge took a bad team and created a championship team in one year. I still don't know how he pulled off both the Garnett and Ray Allen deal in the same year.
Disagree, Hennigan has a good eye for talent where others aren't looking. Tobias Harris and Vucevic are great finds. Oladipo was the right pick for that team. If they turn Afflalo into Bledsoe, suddenly thats a real team starting to come together there, he would have totally rebuilt a team that had no future exactly one year ago.
Yep, Cho is the worst, by far. Drafted a bunch of guys in Portland who will never see the NBA again. Fired after one year in Portland, everyone ripped Paul Allen for it but seems to have been smart. This year he passes on McClemore for Cody freaking Zeller. Kidd-Gilchrist he'll probably be able to avoid criticism on since he was the consensus #2 pick, but just look at Beal, Barnes, & Lillard's first seasons. Barnes could have been picked in that spot, went to local university and everything, everyone would have loved the pick but Kidd-Gilchrist people have serious questions about his game. And two years ago, he drafted Bismack Biyombo above Klay Thompson, Leonard, Faried & Vucevic. Seriously the worst GM. Hasn't made a good move in 3 years on the job.
How did he manage to do that, he was hired after the 2010 draft and fired long before the 2011 draft? Way too early to write MKG off. He has flaws but they are fixable. He wasn't a consensus no.2 pick but he's very talented and young.
The GM at New Orleans who got fleeced on the Noel trade and is now considering giving Tyreke Evans $10+ million/year is trying to make a run at this title now
This was my thought too.... heck if you're runnin a team in a premiere location like LaLa land and doubling up the cap and this is the best you can do....
Actually, lakers did well. Howard for a year was better than a bum Bynum (alliteration son!). The experiment didn't work because Kobe, Howard, and Nash were hurt most of the time. I don't like the Lakers because I'm a chronic Rockets fan but they made great moves in the off season, it just didn't work out. Dr J agrees that the laker raped the sixers in that deal.
This. They trade harris for reddick only to get 2 2nd rounders. Ellis and jennings are a bad fit. Too bad to win, too good to draft high.
The Suns pick will likely be a high 2nd, so pretty valuable. The original deal sucked. This current deal is fine. They may Jennings let go, he's hasn't exactly been a good soldier, in which case it makes little sense to pay Redick. Might as well tank for Wiggins.
