Bad optics is losing twenty in a row, starting 1-16 last season, and starting 2-10 this season. That my friend is what’s called bad optics!
They would not have been much better no matter who was coaching. And until it’s proven that they have legit future talent, no established coach was/is going to sign up anyway.
Me No but seriously I'm in the boat of firing silas by Allstars break and making abdulfattah the interim to see if he's food to improve the team and evaluate him to see if he should be hired for the next season I don't want to bring in a stranger next season even with good background for one simple reason I could see someone coming in and working with kpj in person and saying privately "what did I get myself into?" I still have doubts about kpjs mental stability. We do know he's being coddled by silas especially by starting Bruno to let kpj run every play instead of sharing it with sengun I think if we ran a offense through the High post kpj would pout. Just my opinion. That means a different coach would have to change personal to his style. I think trading kpj or making 6th man' is way over do. The next coach will and should do that
Sam Cassell is the only answer. He would/could take the talent here and quickly mold into a championship team. He is and has always been a champion.
Mario Ellie. If you watched last night's Postgame show you will see why. He had to YELL to the players to get the ball in the middle to break the zone. HE has to do it!! Silas is a nice guy, he's just not Head coach material
agreed. It’s time to give Sam his shot. He’s been an assistant since 2009 and has done a good job with 3 different teams. Frankly I’m shocked he hasn’t been a head coach yet. Supposedly he was on the list to replace Quinn Snyder. We know he’s got the heart of a champion. We know he demands respect and discipline. We know he’s got the coaching experience. Why not Sam?
My short list outside of current assistants: Quinn Snyder, Sam Cassell, Chris Quinn. Hoping for either quin.
I'd love to see JVG back in there but with an offensive coordinator type person as an assistant coach.
I used to be a huge JVG supporter, but the reason I wouldn’t want to see him coach now is: 1). He’s been out of the league too long 2). An offensive system was always the weakest part of his coaching. we need someone who knows how to use Sengun, Jalen, and Jabari effectively. To be clear, we could definitely do worse than JVG (assuming he would even want to job), and I’d love to have his defensive intensity and discipline, but I do worry about his lack off offensive vision. If Rick Adleman was in his prime; that’s the guy I’d love to see. hey but JVG would definitely be much better for this team than our current coach
Next coach will be Silas….not even a whisper of discontent from the org. Stone is best friends with Silas and supposedly has guaranteed no job change through 2023.
