I want Kenny Atkinson. He did a great job in BK making that young team competitive and only lost his job due to politics.
Look at the Texans man even they got their act together and got an absolute stud in DeMeco Ryan . The man is the best defensive coordinator in the NFL . The Rockets are now the most inept team in Houston. Astros are obviously the best team in Baseball, Texans are back on track with DeMeco and Hopefully Bryce Young so let’s see what the Rockets do
Atkinson would be my pick as well. Need to clean house, with the exception of Lucas. Vogel was stellar with the Pacers and would be a major upgrade ad well. Not sure our wonderful owner cares enough to make a change. My hunch is they’ll keep Silas and let a couple of those no-name assistant coaches go.
Whichever team finishes a season without the league's worst record will be considered least inept. Until then they're both sewage.
Sam is an incredible developer of young talent and just players in general. The job he has done developing Maxey and incorporating Harden into the Sixers has been outstanding. He would be a great get and it’s about getting the favorite son back to Htown but I think the Sixers see him as the successor to Rivers . They won’t let him go
1.Snyder 2. Udoka 3. Abdelfettah Hawks have been a perennial underperformed, so their move isn’t surprising. I’m not sure if any other team is going to feel like a coaching change will save their season, but the Rockets better be ready to pounce the second their season is over.
so frustrating to watch a crap organization like the Hawks attract a guy like Snyder, while we’ll likely struggle to attract someone that proven.
This team is both a GM and a Coach away. Not just a coach away. People rarely relinquish power unless forced and Stone is just going to hire another pushover that's going to let him talk to his assistants one on one, be involved in practices, etc etc. Stone and Silas both need to go. As long as Stone is still here the culture won't change.
19 hours ago – via Twitter TheSteinLine Marc Stein: Among the candidates being considered for the Hawks’ coaching vacancy, league sources say, is former Celtics coach Ime Udoka. More NBA from me: marcstein.substack.com If Ime is ok to coach BRING HIM TO TheToyShop!!!
the hawks getting the jump on us in inexcusable. why didn't we start the search during all star break like the hawks? one of the following must be true. 1. tilman is too cheap to pay a new coach while still paying silas, or too cheap to bid for the big names like Snyder. 2. stone is rumored to be very hands on, and possibly doesn't want a strong willed coach like Snyder or Atkinson...and is willing to pass on them in favor of a less experienced, more agreeable HC. 3. stone and tilman are planning on keeping Silas 4. stone doesn't think he could attract a top tier coach to this mess even if he got tilman to match their asking price, assistants, etc... its unfortunate but in order for us to be here with Silas post-all star break, at least one of those statements is true. another thing I know is true is that if stone thought the next HC was on the staff right now (Lucas, abdelfettah) then there would be no reason to keep Silas right now. therefore its unlikely the next HC is coming from this staff. all of those points considered here is my updated list since removing Snyder (who was my top choice) 1. Atkinson - development and culture/accountability 2. Sampson - development and culture/accountability 3. Udoka - accountability, strategy 4. Vogel - accountability, strategy however, if tilman wants a cheap option and stone wants a pushover we won't get any of these guys. in that case I'd look at: 1. Charles lee - Bucks 2. Chris Quinn - Heat 3. Adrian Griffin - Raptors 3. Jay Laranaga - Clippers 3. David Adelman - Nuggets
Even if we don't get Snyder, Snyder could be snatching away good quality assistant coaches with him. The fact that most think Silas is not coming back after this season, but GM Stone is still just waiting until the summer could prove faulty. In the summer people go on vacations. Garuba/Sengun may go back to Europe. Training camp is short in today's NBA. If you know a coaching reset will help develop players better, it's best not to procrastinate, and use the remainder of the season.
