I was thinking of a new show the Astros could do in the offseason for kids... "Where in the World is Dave Duncan?"
Jim Fregosi's name has come up way to much to just be guesswork, there is something to that which makes me freaking nervous! I actually thought Coop improved alot in the first half of the season but went backwords down the stretch so I have no problem on the move to let him go. Saying that, I really don't like when players complain to management about there coaches it screams of inmates running the asylum but when you're baseball people want the guy out you need to let him go, they waited to darn long if this was truly the case. I would love to know why Uncle D didn't sign off or was he told not to let him go from the "Powers that Be."
I just can't see any team that is rebuilding hiring a 67 year old manager. The Astros HAVE to give their next manager a minimum 4 year deal and see this thing through. Which is why I suggest Eric Wedge, if he doesn't get the axe(all signs point to him being outed) then I would like to see John Farrell givin a shot. btw, Dave Clark......no thanks. I don't even want that guy coaching 3rd base.
If nothing else, offer a ton of cash and bring in Dave Duncan as our pitching coach. We have no idea how good a manager he'd be - we know he works miracles as a pitching coach.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/09/heyman-on-pujols-holliday-acta.html Heyman hears that the Astros will interview former Nats manager Manny Acta for their managerial opening. Nothing new but first confirmed(Kinda) interview, no suprises.
Oh Yea from the same link... Indians GM Mark Shapiro is facing pressure to fire manager Eric Wedge, especially now that the club has lost 11 straight. So Wedge could become a front runner if he does get fired.
Would be nice if Ausmus was player-manager, Biggio was 3rd base coach and Bagwell the hitting instructor. Fans would love it and would bring some excitement to the season no matter what.
If you aren't careful in foreign language commercials it could be read as "Duncan Gives America the Runs."
I like this suggestion. Ausmus would be the young gun hire, would attract the fans, and he might just be the hit in the clubhouse that they are looking for. I like this suggestion better than any of the other names save for Duncan.
Ausmus wouldn't attract me as a fan. I'd like to see Ausmus as a player coach, bench coach or field coach before becoming a manager. We NEED someone who is young(er) and has managed before or has been a fantastic pitching coach. Have I mentioned Eric Wedge or John Farrell yet? If not, I'd like to suggest Eric Wedge or John Farrell.
