Ok... Post count doesn't matter. Neither does the date you joined. Just do me a favor. Before you post another new thread... ADD SOMETHING TO THE DISCUSSION. There was a time (granted it wore off after oh about my first new thread) that it was cool to see my new creation all sparkling in lights (pixels) on my monitor... But if you feel so inclined please know we already know you fall into one of the following camps.

Rudy Gay was going to be a stud/allstar/HOFer or Rudy Gay was the next Swift
We should build to win in the next 3 years because Mcgrady's Back/Yao's feet/Grumpy's hairline or you think we are a young team and should be patient
You miss Francis or you're glad he's gone
You love Yao and think he is the next Hakeem or you think hes reached his full potential
Hakeem was better than Wilt or Wilt was the best of all time
The Rockets would have won at least one had mj (those of you who came on board in the last 3 years that stands for michael jodan not mike james) or we wouldn't have one one
Ralph Sampson was a budding allstar or Ralph Sampson had one miracle shot
Robert Horry is a HOF or Robert Horry is a role player
Scottie Pippen is a bum or Scottie Pippen was great
Barkley was a Loud mouth SOB or Barkley was a loudmouth SOB
Barkley was great or Barkley was great...

If you are presenting one of the above ideas and can do so in say 5 sentences or fewer... there is probably already a post on the matter. I'm not saying don't post if there isn't one, but there seems to be about 15 threads in favor of Gay and 15 against him. And if you have something COMPLETELY NEW to add to the discussion... by all means do so... but don't just start a new post that says..... Gay was young. Gay had potential. Battier is old. Battier is as good as he's going to get. The trade was a mistake. or visa versa. Thank you and good night.

    Mike

No, no, no, you have it all wrong. Here's what really happened in Rockets history:

We won our first championship in 1981. Although Larry Bird and Cedric Maxwell had a phenomenal series, Moses Malone averaged 38 points per game, Calvin Murphy set a Finals record for free throws, and Billy Paultz provoked Bird into a fight which got both of them suspended for Game 7, which was won decisively by the Rockets on the Garden floor as Mike Dunleavy came off the bench to score 24 points. Though Moses stayed on for 2 more years, he was eventually signed by the Milwaukee Bucks and never experienced a championship again.

Our horrible years following netted us both Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon. In 1986, we won the 2nd of our world championships as Hakeem and Ralph dominated Boston's front line while Lewis Lloyd averaged 26 points per game. In game 5, another fight broke out involving Bird- this time, it was Mitchell Wiggins who provoked him with an elbow to the mouth. Without Bird, the Celtics collapsed in Game 6 as Hakeem tallied 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots, winning the first of 4 NBA Finals MVP awards. The Rockets repeated in 1987, this time defeating the Chicago Bulls with a soon-to-be-great Michael Jordan. Though Jordan averaged 42 points, Hakeem bested him all-around with averages of 39 points, 12 boards, and a NBA Finals-record 30 blocks in a 5-game series.

The next year, Lloyd and Wiggins violated the NBA's drug policy and were banned from the NBA, with the Rockets subsequently releasing both. Through a series of trades, we acquired Otis Thorpe, Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, Robert Horry, and Sam Cassell, among others. We won our 4th championship in 1994 with a 4-game sweep of the Knicks, and our 5th in 1995 with a tough, 7-game battle with the Chicago Bulls.

More to follow, including the incredible championship runs of 1997 and 2005.

    Battier is not Gay.

It's new. It's different. It's WOW. It needs its own thread.

Why did you start a thread for people to present new ideas without presenting any new ideas yourself?

Can you ad this thread topic to the top of your list of what not to post?

A little presumptious to start a thread called "The new thread to end all ..... threads."
