Rondo was the one player the celtics would not give up for KG. That should tell you all you need to know about what they though of Rondo.
Yeah and did he show that special something before the Big 3 got together in Boston? No. He grew while playing with them. Exactly. When you got 3 dudes on a team who can demand the double team, you're gonna look good playing with them.
I'm Reading All This Nonsense About Rondo "Taking Over" Games, But I Think We All Know That He Is Nowhere In The Category Of Elite. He's A Terrible Shooter. His Decision Making Has Improved Over The Years & He's Definitely Gotten Better, But That's All. Russell Westbrook Makes Rondo Look Like A Chump.
Wade is a point guard. LeBron is a point forward. Allen is a catch and shoot SG, slightly better KevMart at his prime basically. Paul Pierce is a HOF SF but he doesn't pass 1/4 has well as LeBron
I don't think people ever expected Rondo to turn out to be as good as he did. Especially this quickly. However, Rondo had the physical tools and potential to become what he has become. Chalmers on the other hand doesn't possess anything special that would differentiate himself from other pg's in the game. He's average to below average in everything from skill-set, talent, god-given ability, learning curve etc.
He is def. one the elite point guards. His jumpshot may not be all that, but few PG's in the league play better defense and his ability to create for others is amazing. IMO Russell Westbrook is not even a true point guard.
uhm, this was rondo's what 4th season? I think it was chalmers third. Rondo showed flashes of brilliance throughout his 2nd season and became even more consistent during his 3rd year, now into his forth season we've seen an emerging allstar. Chalmers will probably never reach that point.....ever.
Rondo is only good because he plays with no pressure... Same with Chalmers. He's going to look good per se because he's playing with LeBron, Wade, Bosh and getting open shots...
Rondo is a hell of a lot better than you're giving him credit for. He was the best player on a team that made it to the Finals this year. Also, not every word in a sentence is supposed to start with a capital letter.
Everyone is talking about post rondo.. this is stupid.. I believe Chalmers is gonna look like a star in 2 years.
Two questions: What is your definition of "true point guard"? How many times have you seen Westbrook play besides the Lakers playoff series?
Westbrook May Not Be A True Point, But He Is A Point. And He's The Better Player. Rondo Is Overrated And Your Team Will Never Win A Championship If He's Your Best Player.
I'm Giving Rondo More Credit Than He Deserves. The Best Player? Don't Make Me Laugh. Rondo Will Never Equate To The Type Of Players KG, Pierce & Allen Are. Youre Elementary Lessons Are No Good Here, Kid. Steve Francis Isn't Even In The League. How Can I Respect Your Opinion
I believe I've seen every game of Rondo's career. While he is not as good as Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett were at their peak, he is as good as any of them right now. If you ask Celtic fans who is the team's best player, I think it would be evenly split among Pierce, Garnett, and Rondo. Allen would clearly be fourth. Rondo regularly does take over games, but not in the ordinary way. He's very disruptive defensively and with his drives. He's a great passer with terrific court vision. He's super fast. His biggest advantage are his hands which are enormous, the largest ever measured on a Celtics draft prospect (for however long they've been doing that). He has a weakness in his game (free throws and outside shooting) but he's a brilliant player. Despite the unreliable outside shot he's always among the very top shooting guards percentage wise. Rondo's noticeably improved every year. There's no reason to think he's peaked yet.
If you don't think Rondo was the best player on the Celtics this year, that puts you in an extreme minority. What does Steve Francis being out of the league have to do with anything? He wasn't out of the league in '99 when I registered here, dumbass.
