Maybe Rush needs to make a move on Sarah. He's got the viagra, and it's got to be cheaper than flying to the Dominican Republic and paying to have sex with 15 year old girls.
basso, you turned out to be right about Steele. Personally, I think the GOP could have done far worse, but they could also have done far better. Steele isn't a Howard Dean when it comes to strategy, organization, and raising money. The fellow that lost today wasn't anything special, either. In my opinion, your guys needed a complete do-over. While Dean wasn't a great candidate for the Democratic nomination a few years ago, he was the perfect choice as head of the Party and its election strategy. It didn't hurt Dean that he ended up with two strong candidates for the nomination, with Team Obama bringing a whole new ballgame into the political arena. The hard work Dean and his people did beforehand dovetailed perfectly with the Obama campaign. Where is the "Howard Dean" from the Republican side? Steele isn't it, but he's still a breath of fresh air, and if he gets good help, maybe he can at least start to nudge the GOP into a more centrist position. I'm not going to hold my breath.
Is the GOP setting us up for an all black presidential election in 2012 for the time time in history? Don't blacks vote 90% in favor of Democrats anyway? I don't see this helping.
The answer to your first question is no, but you have the general idea. Unless he is a truly brilliant strategist and fundraiser, the selection of Michael Steele seems like a "no win" choice for the GOP. At best, I doubt he has much relevance as a "leader" of their party because few will listen to him.
He's got you there weslinder. I voted for McCain, and disagree frequently with SamFisher. On this issue, he's right. In order to turn around the economy, you have to stimulate demand. The best way to do this is to create demand in the labor market. The idea behind the stimulus is to create jobs in building projects. It worked with the TVA and it can work today if done properly.
just to be clear, i don't have "guys." i stopped voting democratic when the democrats stopped advocating for policies i believed in. in most instances, the republicans did as well. but on the issues i cared most about, a few republicans remained steadfast, and the democrats, except for joe liebermann, betrayed us.
It will be interesting to see how Michael Steele is viewed by African-Americans. This guy is actually black - raised by two black parents, as opposed to our president who had practically no black influence in his upbringing, and is only half-black himself. It will be interesting, indeed.
As usual, if blacks like Obama, it's because they support anybody who is black. If they don't just support Steele because he's black, then there's something wrong with that too. I don't believe a real human being can have as many double standards as you.
They will reject him, just as they did in Maryland. And we'll all know the reasons - it's because black people vote ideology just like everyone else. And the GOP has proven itself the party that has no interest in the black vote (Obama the Magic Negro, for example) so they won't get it. Your whole theory of black people voting for Obama because he's black will go down the toilet, and instead, you'll jump on "they are traitors to their race" argument.
obama got 95% of the black vote, but only 53% of the vote overall. so were blacks just more liberal (no- see Prop 8), or were they voting, at least to a certain extent, for obama based on something other than the content of his character?
Blacks routinely give the Dem nominee more than 90% of the vote. Is that hard for you to understand? The trend will continue even with Steele being chosen as RNC chairman. Does it compute yet or will you be your normally obtuse self?
Only for the next 4-8 years, just like the Cosby Show. Joe the Plumber = Al Bundy Sarah Palin = Roseanne Mitt Romney = Steven Keaton/Jason Seaver
True, but there's been little evidence of the party changing lately. Just look who they put in charge of civil rights the last time they had power.
