George Karl is a punk. His antics are well documented. Doc Rivers and now Thomas. He's like Kim Yong Il with players instead of bombs

Did you watch the same video I did? Robinson was the one who took Smith down and was the one on top doing the pounding until his own guys pulled him off. Unless Smith is a brazilian jiujitsu brown belt and was working a guillotine choke, he wasn't faring to well.

Karl is a dick, and I believe his actions were the impetus behind this melee, but you can't suspend someone for this. He was wrong, we know exactly what he was doing, but it's not something you can take a man's paycheck away for.

Was PJ a dick for forcing Latrell Sprewell and Muggsy Bogues (his two assist per game leaders) into a fifth round of a junior high bounce-pass drill? Totally. Did he deserve a good chokin'? Yep. Do you do it? No. Should you get suspended if you do it? Yes.

You can't suspend someone for being an ass. Red Auerbach would have gone broke.

How could anyone support Knicks being such sore losers in this brawl? What difference is that violent foul against Smith than a cheap sucker punch? It's harming players when they didn't expect. It's even worse because the player was in the air. And on top of that, that little Nate joke jumped up and down, provoking after the cheap shot from his teammate. What was that? Because Denver played their starters in a blowout? What a joke. It's not like New York rarely get blown out. They can play their starters all they want, if your starters can't handle that, just accept you are an inferior team. A slap in the face? Yes, it's humiliating, not because others played well, but because you suck, big time. You didn't have the fighting spirit in the game. Even worse, you acted like sore losers and cry babies. That's not toughness or pride, that's just bunch of jokes. If you are a proud team, you remember that humiliate loss, and take it strong to them next time, on the court and score board. Not a vicious hard foul at the blind side.

If that little joke who started the whole thing, who's seriously troubled by Napoleon Symptom, doesn't get the heaviest punishment in this whole circus, NBA lost all my respect. Moreover, the local news protraiting him as the guy defending franchise pride, is just sickening. No shame at all.

Pretty interesting...Karl should have taken the starters out earlier, but I don't think that justify's the flagrant...

A bad situation all the way around...Carmelo sucker punched, ran away and I think he'll get 10 plus games...If you're going to hit someone, stay there and fight...get your suspensions worth...

I don't know if they'll punish someone longer for just being a pansy. Marcus Camby got five games for about the nastiest punch you'll ever see (the one that took out Van Gundy in 2001). And the writers comparing it to Jermaine O'Neal are just morons -- dude punched a fan.

    EDIT: here's what I'd do.

Collins: two games (one for the foul, one for the premeditation)
Thomas: two games (one for the uncompromising tone after the game, one for jawing/threatening Anthony)
Smith: two games (went after Robinson after being seperated)
Anthony: seven games (five for the punch, two for throwing it after things had died down)
    Jeffries: two games
    Robinson: five games

... and the rest of the onlookers get a game.

Second edit: And bump all those numbers up a game for the post-Detroit effect.

Nate Robinson is what's wrong with today's NBA. Too bad Isiah has to stick with this little punk.

Since Melo is playing in the same conference as the team from Houston, the Rockets fans can certainly enjoy his suspension with not-so-guilty pleasure.

The thing i never understand is that a team that is blown out is anoyed if the opponents play their best players. IMHO the only reason to substitute your best players is because you do not want them to get hurt. Not because you feel sorry for your opponent. If the knicks didn't want to loose to big... well play better. Don't whine that someone is humiliating you, play better.

So IMHO it is a stupid argument that they were mad because Karl played his best players.

I don't have a major problem with it...he waited till things were dying down to look around for someone else to slap. Nate probably deserved more like 13 to his 15. Both were obviously looking to do nothing but create more trouble.

Disappointed that Isiah got off that easy. You step off the bench and it's automatic.

One thing that I have noted, NBA players are terrible fighters. They rarely connect with punches. I quess the K.Washington/Rudy T case was the major exception, but that was almost an accident.

melo deserved the most because of the sucker punch after everything was calming down. i think the nate should have got more but these suspensions seem fair.

Yeah, agreed on the Isiah bit. He should have gotten at least a game or two. Letting him off the hook without any consequences was a bad decision by Stern IMO.

I agree on the suspensions. Looked at through the prism of the brawl in Detroit, it was obvious that the suspensions would be really stiff and would seem excessive under normal circumstances.

I have to agree with you. I mean, a big brawl between 10 atheltic players 300+ pounds and not a single guy bleeds? not even a cut on the lip. not a single black eye. they are just terrible. :D

    I bet u Yao would've kicked everybody's a$$ since he has a black belt in Kung-FU :D

Isiah Thomas should be banned from NBA arenas and should never coach again. he should also be stripped the honor for a possible nomination to the hall of fame. what a b!t@^.. the guy is terrible. he was smiling like he did something good. who the hell are u to decide if the other team should have starters on the floor or not?

everytime I see the video the only thing that bothers me is the little pocket rocket Nate Robinson acting like a thug and going Jackie Chan on everybody. what the hell is wrong with this guy? he should be street fighting somewhere else, not in the NBA. the guy is getting paid major $$$, and he is making a fool out of himself. I mean, did y'all see the gestures he made?

the guy should be suspended indefinetly and banned from the league.

does anyone know if Nugs and Knicks play against each other again this season? I hope they do.. because if I was George Karl, I would send a bench warmer (like Mardy Collins, or whatever his name is) and make him foul out only on the little thug. he should put his foot under Nate's feet everytime he takes a jump shot so he can sprain his ankles (kinda like Bruce Bowen). something needs to be done to the little thug. when he tried to go Jackie Chan on us, Tmac shouldn't have restrained him and we should've sent out Motumbo and Howard to kick his a$$ and give him nightmares. :D
