OK...for those who are saying Isiah isn't at fault.... apparently there is a lot of reason to believe that Isiah started it. (Well, you could also blame George Karl for trying to stick it to Isiah, but that isn't exactly a crime.) According to Marc Stein, the Nuggets bench/staff are alleging that Isiah warned Melo to stay away from the paint shortly before the incident happened. Also, this isn't the first time this week that Mardy Collins has committed a flagrant foul on someone late in a game on the wrong end of a blowout. Essentially, there's reason to believe that Isiah encouraged his players to be extra-physical in retaliation for any show-up attempts like a breakaway dunk. If I read Isiah's post-game conference quotes correctly, it sounded like this: "George Karl is to blame, trying to rub it in our faces by leaving his starters in. We can't let them show us up like that in our own house, so one of my guys committed a flagrant foul. JR should've just taken his beating like a sheep and shot his two free throws, instead, he had to turn it into a fight." What a loser.
I feel bad for Shawn Bradley, he seriously gets beaten up way too often. But watching that Walt Williams beating brings back some memories. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hJQ5NcDPBj0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hJQ5NcDPBj0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
After Indy-Detroit - I shudder to think what kind of penalties this incident will bring... my theory is that this was bound to happen, with the tighter restrictions on complaining to the refs and so on, their frustrations boiled over to each other maybe they should let the players get frisky with the cheerleaders at halftime, to blow off some steam? Or give them baseball bats and they get 15 mins to smack around their team mascot?
I hope Nate Robinson gets 15 games or more, that little midget punkass deserves it for fouling yao then acting like it was a clean dunk.
man after the detroit brawl yall know they are going to get some long ass suspensions. And with the espn reporters over reacting on carmelo (with the arrow and all) he's gonna get a long time, 30+ games i quess. If i was boss i would give a max off 5 games suspension. Sometimes players need to be slapped. They didnt fight with the fans they fought each other so its all good . My opinion is like this, because i hate tough guys on court and P's off. ps Whats up with the american sports? In hockey its normal they fight and with bball its all OH MY GOD, they are roll models etc.
I wish all the denver players involved in the brawl will get at least 10 games suspension and denver went to to 10 games losing streak! With T-mac out indefinitely, any denver's loss is rockets gain!
Carmelo is a cowardly little b****. He was instigating **** all over the place then took off after his punch - he damn near teleported. It's not like he saw Shaq coming, it was Jared Jefferies!!!! Carmelo should miss 10 games Robinson 10 games Collins 10 games JR Smith 5 games Everyone else 1 game (most were trying to act as peacemakers) Any count on people leaving the bench? Isiah was definitely saying that it was the Nuggets fault for leaving the starters in - his bombed attempt of a joke: reporter: What were you saying to Carmelo Anthony? Isiah: Well, I was, I was, you know, saying hey! You guys shouldn't be in the game! Yo're up 20, 21 with a minute and a half to go, and uh, JR Smith just did this full reverse dunk and everything, so you know, you shouldn't even be out there! (Smiles, looking for chuckling but the room is dead silent) Not one word condemning any of it. Gotta wonder if Dolan is re-thinking the "whole year" plan. Evan
that could very well happen to Yao if Yao starts throwing elbows around like a lot of people here wished. Yao's not deke. that's why I want Yao just to be himself. Call it soft all you want but Yao trying to provoke like a tough guy will end up getting owned like Bradley in NBA.
Yao's heavy base (lower center of gravity) and the 45 pounds he has on Bradley would make it pretty tough to flip him like the human pencil Shawn Bradley. Horrible comparison, Yao has the bulk and more importantly the game to intimidate without throwing elbows.
I agree with this. Looking at the replay, Nate escalated the whole thing. He was the one who started the fight with other players. I hope this guy gets the longest suspension for showing a barbaric-like behavior. I understand why Melo did it to Collins. He was trying to school him that such actions don't have a place in the Professional basketball cuz they're doing this for a living. Wish Sura was back so we can get a piece of this NBA brawl. I wanna see Jeff's boxing refereing skills again. Regarding Isiah's comment that Melo and Camby shouldn't be in the game at that point in time, I agree with this. These coaches have this kind of protocol. There was also a case where one coach was insulted by the other team's coach for calling a timeout with 6 sec left and they the coah who called the timeout was leading by almost 10 points. This kind of protocol do exists in the pro league esp NBA. So I would understnad Thomas's comment on this. Hard foul is hard a foul. There's justified penalty on that. But the behavior of Nate Robinson?? That was pretty ugly. He is just evil and he needs his bad ass kicked for 10 games at least.
That would even mitigate his case. Probably he when the board see this, they will lessen the game suspension on Melo for throwing a WNBA-like punch.
