The big three really will exist in the clipers.but the big three ,next to captain and beraed,is not margette ,it's thorton instead.even hell the cat ,who earn nearly 10m but play the game like a real cat.i guess he may be useful for suns to cope with damon stoudmire who is working in spurs.
do you really care if he is an allstar? the fact is simple. he is a very good player, everybody who scores 20 ppg in the nba should be called as a very good player. this dude gets to the line a lot, if we signed him i belive we could be better than celtics.
when did we last have a viable 3rd option?? we went after Rashard Lewis last offseason, couldn't we offer similar money to what we offered then to Magette this time around? please?
Every year they look good on paper and everyone goes "ooooh" and "aaaaah"... then... by the end of the season, they're still the ol' Clippers and lottery bound. ROFL
I think people are falling too much in love with the idea of a "big 3". Just a few years ago, Detroit set the tone with an emphasis on teamwork and no superstars. Chemistry was refreshingly king, but now teams are expected to have 3 superstars each of whom command just about the entire salary cap. I don't think it's a very good strategy to model a teams future after another's. It's just not practical, and I'd argue next to impossible to pursue 3 superstars at the height of their abilities. Chemistry is more impressive and cheaper. It takes front office skill to get players that aren't in huge demand and make a meaningful contribution to a team. I'm a Celtics fan but our title took a lot of luck and then they drew from the best of the FA pool who care about winning in their last years. Luck should never be a game plan. On top of that, Boston got lucky that their 3 stars were mostly deferential. The same is not true of most stars in the league. Teams tend to hold on to youngish stars who foster a team attitude. If one becomes available, more often than not they're past their prime and you mortgage your teams future just to acquire them. Big 3 is a marketing gimmick. Let's not let gimmicks bleed into serious analysis.
