Gladiators can't hold MXC's jock. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dpGw45FyvaU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dpGw45FyvaU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
one of the gladiators, from what i saw in the promos, resembled ben stiller's character in dodgeball too!
Brother....Its called a TiVo. I will watch the football game until Ohio State starts getting killed like last year. I will TiVO Gladiators.
An old high school football coach of mine was a contestant on the original Gladiators TOTAL 80's meathead
I have to agree with this point too. To me the gladiators are the real stars of the show, so they should participate in the Eliminator in some way. I still think the new version is an improvement, though.
I kept waiting for the original tune but it never came...Dun dundundun dee dundun deedee... Something about the way it was edited made me think of lame ass Fear Factor. Wolf totally reminds me of the guy who played Sabertooth in the X-Men movie though...
I thought it was hilarious. Is anything funnier than watching the male and female gladiators toss the regular folk off the pyramid, or watching the contestants stagger up the treadmill on the eliminator. Its absolutely hilarious.
I thought the female contestants got hotter. Venus Ramos, the first winner, was cute and had an awesome personality. She's a doctor and a fitness model ...hudda dudda. That was also such an insane, exhausting come from behind win in the Eliminator. It had my brother and I cheering and screaming until the end. I liked the marine girl too, she kind of reminded me of Felicity and the starship trooper girl. She was tough as nails, especially when holding on to those monkey bars with a 150 lb gladiator dragging you down. She also completed the Eliminator with a bleeding forehead from hitting the metal bar while swimming. The other girl who won reminded me of Janet Jackson with muscles.
I dont know. Ive watched both nights and I just cant get over how staged everything seems to be. It's like watching the WWE. The contestants don't help that notion from the "spider monkey" little geek to the "big country" hick who talks about wrestling hogs in the mud and sounds like Jim Neighbors. Of course the Gladiators' personas seems like something straight out of Hulk Hogan's School of Professional Actors. It's a decent show but I'm not sure how much more I can take of it.
Hopefully they'll drop some of the more staged, at least in feel, stuff. I did kind of enjoy it, do wish it was on the weekend though, would make for great drunkin watching
Judging from their chosen time slot, I think they are trying to draw the WWE audience. It gives them something to watch before flipping to RAW.
The guy from Tennessee was pretty funny. I'm surprised they didn't have him come out with a straw hat and overalls. I think they need to simplify the show by getting rid of the commercials right before an event is going to happen, cutting down the bios of the contenders, bringing back the original theme, and changing the assault a little. More on assault, I know there hasn't been a large sample size for this season so far, but didn't it seem like contenders would do much better in the original assault? They are barely getting to the third station now.
Man, I like this new version. Maybe its because I was a huge fan of the original as a kid, but both shows were pretty entertaining. It's exactly what it is, a modern version of American Gladiators. I'm loving the elminator event. The treadmill thing kills all the time. That little flip chick came back on that one and the 2nd show was hilarious with the two guys that took forever to get pass it. I think the whole staged feel is mainly due to the fact that it is taped and not live. Also doesn't help to plant generic signs in the audience.
