No way...the fact less than 1% of college players get into the NBA should tell you the pure talent difference between a college team and a NBA team..even a team of Brian Cooks would own a college team.
lol I knew this would get a reaction John Wall is going to be scary good but right now he needs edumacation of the basketball kind. I have said it to anyone who will listen (and those who won't) he will be better than Evans and Rose. Patrick will play somewhere.. and be successful.. he's the type of guy I can see in a David West like role. Cousins has heaps of talent and athleticism.. the main thing for him is going to be maturity and focus. Bledsoe is getting a lot of press right now. He's a better shooter than John and just as fast. John has more star potential, but I can see Eric being someone like Kyle Lowry ... only with a better shooting touch. But yes the article is definitely written through the eyes of someone wearing UK Blue tinted glasses I do think they would give the Nets a game for the first 35 minutes.. after that I figure the NBA'ers would take over.
I wouldn't, assuming it's to win now and a temporary arrangment. Even if Wall is capable of putting up 20/5/5 every night next year, it's still after summer league, preseason, and months of constant basketball non-stop with the best basketball minds in the world. Right now, put him against the pressure of NBA defenses, and he's going to look like a headless chicken.
Much like this post, no? Wall is impressive but I'm not sure he'll be better than Rose or Evans at the NBA level. Why do you think he'll be better than those two?
Exactly! Why do I think he will be better... well he has incredible court vision already. His ball handling skills are superior. He is just as athletic as the other two. The biggest things that he will need to work on to reach (and surpass) them is his shooting and turnovers. At this point the bigger issue to me is the turnovers, but I think that as he gets used to the speed of the game on the college level and then the NBA level those will decrease. The shooting isn't as big of a problem as I thought it was going to be... he has hit a lot of the open jumpers he's been given. I saw what Evans and Rose could do in college.. and John is already farther along in maturity and ability than those two and works harder than they ever did. Perhaps it is the blue tinted glasses... but we can argue who was the best after they all three retire
It would be a game up until tipoff. After Lopez wins the tip and gets an alley-oop from Devin Harris the route begins. Imagine the Oakland Raiders vs the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama would probably get negative yardage in that game.
Is 48 mins enough for Wall to get used to the NBA game? Cuz that's probably the amount of time he'll get during the game.
I agree. The only reason they continue to bring this up every season is because they know it will never happen. I would probably watch the highlights just for kicks. 70 point blow out guaranteed if the NBA players agree to this. Probably more just to prove something.
I hear you. I really don't watch much college ball. I've only seen Wall play twice. He did look special. I'm just always hesitant to buy into the hype. It's easy to get excited about young talent and the media can go crazy with that stuff. Rose had a slow start to this season due to injury and whatever else but what I really like about him, in addition to his true PG skills, is his build. He's got the body of a linebacker to go with his court vision so he can finish strong inside and rebound well for his position. Does Wall look like the type that will be able to add muscle easily? Does he seem like the type that will be able to mix it up in the paint at the next level?
Come on, Hayesfan. Are you really taking this seriously? Let's put it this way so that there's REALLY no confusion. Last year college stats for the NJ lineup - replacing Yi with Humphries Lopez: 19/8/2 47% Harris: 19/4/4 45%/37% CDR: 18/4/2 54%/41% Humphries: 21/10/1 44% Lee: 20/5/2 48%/40% And for good measure, the guy who never get off the bench Quinn: 18/4/6 45%/41% Even disregarding the fact that these guys are tons better than they were in college due to pro-training and practice, you think Kentucky can hang with these guys back when they were in college?
this is r****ded. the nets play nba teams every night. a lot of those stats from the kentucky players are inflated from when they played crappy college teams.
anyone comparing a college team to even a D-league team is an auto-r****d, let alone comparing one to an NBA team.
This might be the stupidest article I've ever read. He's going to give the edge to a college player who very well may never make it to the NBA because his stats against college competition are similar to the NBA stats of a pro player. That's ridiculous.
I think the obnoxious part of the article is the fact that they chose the Null team in Lexington to make their comparison rather than more experienced favorites like Kansas and Texas. I mean, this has been done in the past, but usually pitting experience-less, selfish teams with no chemistry whatsoever (usually has been the Grizz or Clipps in the past) against an NCAA champion with many seniors and great chemistry. Null team? They're like a Clipps or Grizz team full of rookies but they have even LESS experience. They only look like they have chemistry because they haven't played anyone in the top 10 yet. Despite being the last undefeated, Sagarin has them ranked 7, the RPI 10, and Ken Pomeroy 14. Why even bother making comparisons with a team that isn't even the best in the NCAA? The most ironic part is that their stars are probably making more money than some of the players on the Nets right now. It gives me no pleasure to know that the Null team will have its wins taken away like Rose's Memphis Grizz...ERR...Tigers team because the NCAA is still going to let Calipari see his Null season through to the end, even it does mean missing an NCAA championship by one free throw at the end of regulation, before it throws any kind of slap on the wrist at him. He makes them too much money, and it's a crooked sport. And for Kentucky fans out there? I'm sorry but you brought it on yourself. You hated Calipari like the rest of us when he wasn't on your team, now you get to play devil's advocate. Enjoy the Null season before it gets revoked.
I think what some of you are failing to realize is that Wall, Cousins and Patterson are likely all lottery picks right now, and Bledsoe ain't bad either. Thats NBA talent, no question. I'm not saying Kentucky would be able to give the Nets a game... but you seriously think they would lose by 70? No way.
