If we get Dwight, then we'll have our veteran leader. Can't wait for him too pass on his experience, level headedness and maturity to all of our young players. The perfect role model (sarcasm).
Valid topic. Not sure who could be brought in, but I agree it could be important for this team. I would be open to bringing Battier back on the cheap for a year or two.
Don't know how "cheap", but maybe Matt Barnes, Marquis Daniels, Aaron Gray, Mickael Pietrus, or Nate Robinson -- all are available UFAs.
We dont need a vet leader for this team right now. We are not planning to be contenders. Bring in a leader after a few years of really seeing what you have. Like OKC did. They went out and got Perk once they were close to being real contenders. Let the young guys learn and make their mistakes for now. Maybe a leader will emerge from them.
Unfortunately, we will be without a set leader on this team for a while. One has to hope that Martin, Douglas, Lin and maybe Livingston grow into the role fairly quickly, because organizations with out leaders to maintain order, rarely ever get back into contention on their own. See the bottom feeder organizations such as Wizards, Bobcats, Kings and Warriors.
I think for now Chandler is it .. Yea he's practilly a rookie himself but he seems more mature than half the nba veterans...The younger guys were already looking to him during SL camp..He represents the team well and put's in the work to improve.He is a guy that can set a good example and that's basically what these guy's need.
To be former All-Star mentors to our players? I'm not in favor of this idea at all, I was just offering a suggestion if OP really wanted to pursue the idea. Lin was a vocal leader during his stay with the Knicks. We might as well have him and Parsons lead and not waste roster space.
