D.H. in November is a different player than Feb. I think you have to throw these stats out the window - his improvement has been dramatic.
I wonder how they count him getting fouled. Because most of time he posts up, he gets fouled. These stupid stats don't tell the whole story sometimes, that's why I hate when they are used to degrade a players contribution. Howard's post ups have been fine the last few months
That's a real good point at the end there. I've noticed that too. I wonder if Morey has any knowledge of that. Oh cyberx....
i just saw his numbers and he is flat our horrible in that space. I couldn't believe 46 yr old Jermaine (Golden State) held him down one on one. Dwight please develop a 15 foot jump shot and it's a wrap for any center
How does this post, along with the fact that Dwight's terrible start of the season in the post (= skewing season totals) not greatly negate OP's post?...
I think the key is to make sure he gets the ball early during the possession before the opposing defense can fully react.
Totally agree. Hate it when he holds the ball. It gives the defense more time to react and negates his quickness.
When he's on he's on. When he's off he's really off. You never know which Dwight is going to show up until you start posting him up. But he's shown a lot of improvement since the start of the season.
I think a lot of it goes back to who Dwight is surrounded by. Based on a post by cyberx, Dwight really believes in stretch 4s. Right now we are playing a man or two short on the perimeter, as far as quality 3 point shooters go. Beverley is average (35%), and TJones is WELL below average (29%). That means Dwight has less room to work than he did in his Orlando days. I don't think there's much doubt that long term, we will be looking for a "stretch 4". The Rockets converted Patterson into one, and drafted Morris as one.
Your stats are misleading. You forgot to consider at least 2 facts : 1. D12 is having quite high TO rate however, his TO is much "better" than any of Lin or Harden's TO as most of D12's TO are offensive fouls - dead ball TO, it greatly decrease the chance of other teams' fast break points. 2. Free Throw - granted, D12's FT is pretty bad or average at best considering his track record. However, do not underestimate the benefit of his FT can bring to the Rockets - More FT means more dead ball and the Rockets can go back and setup their half court defense - which they are much, much more efficient in the league. Just judging by the number of his offense and ignore the way he attack and the help it bring to the Rocket's overall game is not that fair.
All the bad games Dwight has had this year, was when he got in early foul trouble. It seems he has a tough time finding his rhythm if he's taken out early in the game. He's a rhythm player and needs his touches. No one can guard him one on one.
I think he dials back to aggression and contact to avoid picking up fouls when he is in foul trouble. His game is predicated on being aggressive.
