Yeh, right. By the way, my education told me blacks were the ones persecuted in America and my preconception is that blacks know better on concept of racial equality, but the some of them proved otherwise. How severely I was brainwashed!
How could you have got on if she didn't stop? Or was she just not able to stop right in front of you. And how civil and how long were you when you are complaining? I still don't get this story, he asked you to tape it there was tape, but you asked two other postmen and there was no tape
I like how you didn't make a general thread title, that you added on "in America". It sounds like a fox special. It cracks me up.
You just don't know - that postal worker could have been rude to you for 20 different reasons, including your race. It's important not to assume racism is the cause. By saying blacks require more courtesy you are already seperating yourself from blacks. This is the root of racism - stereotyping. But stereotyping isn't racism per say. It's only when you act on those stereotypes. Everyone wants to be treated courteously - not just blacks. Maybe many blacks have sensitivities, maybe many asians have small weiners. Point is, stereotypes suck, even if they can be true a lot of times. Point is, racism is treating other people or applying negative stereotypes to an individual or a group. It may very well be that you encounter racist blacks, but I have found that racism is a function of a lot more than race. The key thing is that you can serve to break suspected racism by disarming those you suspect are expressing racism to you. Sometimes that takes calling them out, other times it requires showing the palms of your hand if you follow what I am saying. If someone is being rude to you, just ask why they are being rude? If someone looks at your suspiciously, hold your head high and be a total gentleman. If someone says something racist to you - tell them they are either stupid or a racist. But make sure to let go of your own racial biases first.
To the OP WHO are the most racist people in America?? The post office worker and the bus driver? Or black people?
Sorry to 2-post But I wanted to add that it strikes me as racist that you just assume they are being racist. Takes one to know one, as they say.
Koreans are racist SOBs. Chinese is not far behind. Japanese don't show it, but they won't eat your rice. Just who's not a racist. Some are better hiding it than others and knows what the legal limits are.
I think certain races just are much more open about it because they know society does not really give a crap. For instance if a Chinese says all japanese and korean are nuts, who really cares.
Sentence A: Everyone wants to be treated courteously. Sentence B: Asians may have small penises. Sentence A: Be a gentleman. Sentence B: Tell somebody they are stupid or racist if they say something racist to you. I think the contradictions (unintentional or not) made those comments even more hilarious.
Well, you can't hold people from homogeneous countries by the same standard. I do agree with this though. In general I've found that the less educated/intelligent are generally more open with their racism. Regardless of whether you're racist or not, it's just not a good idea to give people that impression.
I have questions first. In your first example were you at a bus stop with multiple stops and if so were you standing as the bus was approaching or were you sitting down? Also when you did get on the bus why is it you just didn't just move to your seat and sit down you did get on your bus. When you complain while you did get your services you sound like you kind of being aggressive for no reason at all. What did you think you were going to achieve complaining to the bus driver? In your second example was the gentleman constantly repeating instruction which you ask the same question which he just answer? The reason why I ask is when I join the military back in 98 I had never truly experienced true racism. I was in a work atmosphere where everything that was so call black was treated as offensive while the mainstream ideas were the norm. Music for example I consistently heard that hip hop music violence and cursing was not expectable while Johnny Cash songs continued to be blasted about using his shotgun and consistently cursing in his music. I paid it no attention until Eminem came out and his hip hop music was accepted for some strange reason. So that sparked my curiosity as was it the genre of music wasn't accepted or was it the people who sung the music. At first I thought it was because of the anti-establishment movement was the reason why they objected but when Slim Shady CD was being played I kept hearing how they kids listen to him and related to him. Just found it weird that’s all.
Actually it sounds like predujuce and not racism you still made your bus ride and got off on your stop and you still got your letter taken car of.
being an asian myself, i think all people are racist in some way. the thing is, people who can subconsiously overlook someone's race usually are rare. all people are racist, whether they want to admit it or not. black, white, hispanic, asian, it doesn't matter. the important thing is to treat all people with respect.
I think most people are racist. Go to asia they don't even hide it. I think people in the US are the least racist since the country is so mixed.
