    THe girl singing (Somewhere over the rainbow) was the best. I actually don't even like that song, but she made it enjoyable. Now that's some singing.

    I don't know under what rock I have been, but I just saw this for the first time. It's unbelievably moving. Truly inspiring - and I don't even like opera at all.

    German Telecom made a commercial with the guy:

    It's about the talent exceeding anyone's expectations and his own passion for what he does. This gives us hope that we too can uncover something spectacular in ourselves that we've ignored. How can you not feel great after viewing that? Damn, you're worse than Simon Cowell; he loved the guy!!!! :eek:

    What is the big talent? What is something spectacular? The guy was decent in some parts and butchered others. Many people can do that. Is it just because he seemed a little pitiful and worked as a phone salesman? There is a reason he is not in the opera world.

    Further - Simon Cowell's approval on a reality TV show is meaningless and he knows nothing of the genre, anyway.

    I thoroughly enjoyed his performance and the audience(s) did too. That's good enough for me. I'm trying not to complicate things. Frankly I don't give a rat's ass about perfection. "Did I enjoy it/did it move me" is just enough...

    I have to ask: what makes your review any more valuable than Simon's. At least he works in the music industry.

    I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.
