LOL at the disappointment. The team was up and down all year... feasting on bad teams and getting 3 solid games against the Spurs. They limped down the stretch, getting miracle wins against Portland, Denver, and New Orleans... and really deserved to lose the #4 seed. Now, when the intensity goes up... their style of play gets exposed. Instead of trying to get tougher, they start wilting when the foul calls don't go their way or shots stop falling. I was more disappointed in 1992 when a team that was laying it all on the court lost a heartbreaker in game 7 with some questionable calls in Seattle. I was more disappointed in 1997 when it was likely the last "best" chance Hakeem/Clyde would have to go back to the finals. This is a lot like 2004 when they coughed up the series against the Mavs. I remember thinking that I wasn't too broken up about it, since it was the first year of Yao/T-mac... and I was expecting many more deep playoff runs. That never happened. Since then, I've learned not to expect great things in the future simply because the team is "young". This team as constructed, with their style of play, won't go deep in the playoffs... better to find that out now rather than waste another 2-3 years of running in place.
Mchale was suppose to be here as the rockets tanked. We werent suppose to contend under mchale until made a trade and an aquisition. People seem to forget that.
Pissed last night, upset this morning. Despite all my **** talk, I'm a Rockets fan thru and thru. Going down swinging.
That is a good point, though we were clearly going after Dwight the next year and with Morey's great way of handling salaries and looking out for the future, you cannot tell me he didn't calculate that in. In the end though it was probably Leslie who wanted him.
No, Houston lost the first two at home. One of them was the infamous "Mothers Day Game", where the Rockets didn't sell out. I was actually in attendance of that one. (2) Houston Rockets vs. (3) Phoenix Suns: Rockets win series 4-3 Game 1 @ The Summit, Houston (May 8): Phoenix 91, Houston 87 Game 2 @ The Summit, Houston (May 11): Phoenix 124, Houston 117 (OT) Game 3 @ America West Arena, Phoenix (May 13): Houston 118, Phoenix 102 Game 4 @ America West Arena, Phoenix (May 15): Houston 107, Phoenix 96 (Kevin Johnson's famous dunk on Hakeem Olajuwon) Game 5 @ The Summit, Houston (May 17): Houston 109, Phoenix 86 Game 6 @ America West Arena, Phoenix (May 19): Phoenix 103, Houston 89 Game 7 @ The Summit, Houston (May 21): Houston 104, Phoenix 94 (The Rockets become the second team to win a playoff series after losing the first 2 games at home.)
Thats what we said after game1, LMA can't be this hot in game 2 he will fall to his mean, well guess what? There's no way anyone could have confidence saying LMA won't go 40+ on us in the next 2 games, especially we made zero adjustments to defend him
The 2005 collapse vs. the Mavs after winning the first two games in Dallas still tops this series because "technically" it is not over. But disappointing, definitely. However, I kind of saw this coming. The last few weeks, the Rockets have looked terrible. It is like they decided to "rest up" for the playoffs and lost their mojo. I say they "redeem" themselves if they win the next two. If they get sweep, really disappointing.
You have to admit T-Mac stepped his game up in the playoffs. You are not a true Rockets fan if you can't admit that.
I'm certainly disappointed in the play of Harden, Parsons, and basically the whole damn bench but I still believe we're the better team. I still believe we can win this series. Harden has to show up though. Some of these guys don't seem to realize you need to raise your game come playoff time. Howard has done it, now these other guys need to do it.
I was so mad ... We are much better than this shiat McHale put it on us. Taking turns ISO with the Blazers, not running a single play. We were bunch of psychos out there playing on adrenaline, while the Blazers were like Jack the Ripper finishing us off. r****ded.
game 7 against jazz in 97 was VERY disappointing game 7 against seattle in 92 in was VERY disappointing going down 3-1 against PHX was VERY disappointing these last 2 losses are nothing.
I get where you are going. I would define those games as "heartbreaking", not disappointing. Disappointing to me is not playing with heart, or giving up. And that's what I saw last night for really the first time ever.
To IBTL, we all want it to happen, but wishful does not mean tough minded, realistically speaking what might we do it differently in game 3 and game 4 to beat the Blazers that we did not do in game 1 and 2 at home. Last game was really disappointing, at coaching particularly.
Sunday, May 8, 1994: v. Phoenix Suns 87-91 Wednesday, May 11, 1994 v. Phoenix Suns 117-124 (OT) ...that's when I was the most disappointed as a fan.
The Rockets spent the last two months of the season giving up career games to every scrub in the league, what makes you think they can stop LMA?
That's what drove me crazy. It's ISO ISO ISO. Even after timeouts. I mean can't they design a play once in awhile to free up Harden or free up Parsons for a clean shot?
okay but let's lose the series first before everyone starts stroking themselves with joy that we lost series.
