Here's the link to the entire Murphy article: www.sportingnews.com/nba/teams/rockets/ What a scathing draft review. Murphy must have been afraid of assignment to the Eddie Sefko golf beat. That review should have been under the Chronicle banner. ------------------
I still don't see why it's only the Rockets' fault for not selecting Lewis. I see it as a case of Seattle making a smart draft choice, not Houston screwing up. If you want to look at it that way (a Rocket screw up), they also screwed up by not taking Dennis Rodman in the 35th round, or wherever he was drafted, or not plucking Anthony Mason out of the CBA. They had a chance to take Lewis, and they passed on him. So did nearly every other team. Pre-draft hype or hoopla over the possible selection of Lewis I'm guessing didn't enter into the Rockets' decision, nor should it. The Rockets have a better drafting record than all but a handful of teams -- I don't expect them to be perfect. "You mean to say that the Rockets sacrificed an entire season, landing in the lottery for the first time since 1992...just to land Jason Collier? Wow! That's a guy you can sell to your season ticket holders." It's funny, that quote stood out to me when I read the article as the most ridiculous. It presumes that the season was a waste, that the objective of the season was to get a good draft choice. I don't feel that way, and I'm pretty sure the Rockets don't. I think everyone who's slamming this draft also feels the season was "sacrificed", so that's why they're upset. If you're looking at it from that angle, you'll never understand what the Rockets were thinking on draft night, or their philosophy on building a winner. I actually enjoyed the season, watching the team grow together. The draft was icing on the cake to a season of building great chemistry. ------------------ Tell me I sold out, go ahead
heh, "just 9.2", that's more than Swift and Fizer, and only half a board less than Martin. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
Amen. As much as I enjoy all of their stuff, it was nice to read something on this Draft that didn't blow sunshine up our quisters from a Chronicle writer. My favorite paragraph (though man there were so many great lines to choose from): "You mean to say that the Rockets sacrificed an entire season, landing in the lottery for the first time since 1992 (when they took Robert Horry at No. 11) just to land Jason Collier? Wow! That's a guy you can sell to your season ticket holders." ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
