So, the Rockets player you were just touting that makes $20+ mil a season isn't? Or, he isn't supposed to be? It's not only unnecessary, I'd say it's almost impossible. I have no reason to believe McGrady will come back next season and become something he wasn't even in his prime. I'm not talking about statistics. We need somebody better than McGrady ever was. Better doesn't just equate with talent. I'll take a player with less talent but twice the heart and durability any day of the week.
I think everyone on this board with the exception of one guy (does he need to be named????) has one reaction to this whole thread. Dah!!!!! geez, might as well say the Lakers wouldn't be so good without Kobe.
five star thread. a healthy tracy mcgrady is all it takes for this team to get over the hump. this current team has potential to make a great run and possibly WCF.
Honestly, I disagree with that some people say tmac doesn't have the heart. That's not true. If he didn't have, he wouldn't become a player who can earn that much money. Talent is overated!
tmac does have heart. what he displayed last yr showed a lot of heart. when yao went down and he had 2 injuries, he could have shut it down and saved himself for this year. his problem is that he can be mentally weak at times when things don't go right. and this year displays that.
The sad thing is we may never see a healthy Tracy again. The only way for him to come back healthy is if GOD is on his side. It would be nice to see him come back and be better than ever, but it seen like a little bit too much would have to be done.
i think he will come back. his knee cannot be any worse than what it was this year and this surgery should take the pain away. he should be able to play again. probably 17-18ppg, 5rpg, 6apg on 42-43% shooting type player.
Tell everyone something we don't already know. TMac won't be completely healthy again, so deal with it. Plus, he probably would have played his last game as a Rockets in a normal circumstance, but now, with the economy mess the NBA teams are in, I don't think there will be much interests in him even with his last-contract-year status, his contract is just too expensive to swallow. He probably will play as a Rockets before Feb.2010's trading deadline.
I think I just did! Yeah, McGrady is over and done with, he was simply NEVER able to stay healthy. Even his first year in Houston (in which he was amazing) he was playing with nagging injuries through the playoffs. At the end of the day, McGrady's career in Houston will amount to little more than a blip on the radar, not unlike that of Steve Francis' (a Houston favorite, from what I gather). I can remember at least one game against the Lakers (perhaps two?) where McGrady made a game-winning move and we ended up edging out the Lakers in the end. I remember his driving layup on Odom that was basically a buzzer beater, and the look on Kobe's face after the game. That was a priceless moment. But yes, it is quite pointless to keep talking about an ex-Rocket.
A healthy T-Mac would have made sure we didn't lose this game. Simple as that. Unfortunately, I doubt he will ever come back to form even if he plays in the NBA again.
Any rumblings on what the Rockets are going to do this summer or does it depend on how they do in the playoffs?
Having the money does not mean they will come, just because you have it. That is the biggest myth in the world, and likely the reason why a lot of you guys around here are pretending that all will be well once 2010 comes around and we have all this money to throw away at a true superstar. If we play the odds, it is more likely that we will look back on this current Rockets team as the "golden years" come the post-2010 era (at least the first few years). If anything, we will be in danger of throwing max money at players that don't really deserve it or that will handicap us for a decade to come.
