Yes, but there isn't a finite number of shots Lin will take. It is possible (rare chance) Lin improves so much during the summer that he will be allowed to take more shots than his current 11 shots per game and be more involved in offense. Not a likely scenario.
REPPED These Sucker Newbs don't have the right to make up new terminology on Clutchfans, on top of that LOH sounds whack No originality No humor No basketball knowledge what is their purpose ? Clutch, If you could replace all the LOFs on Clutchfans with those Whales that Kirk beamed up from San Francisco would you?
So you and Clutch are calling those people keep calling other people LOF LOHs, that would make you and Clutch LOFs.
I agree with the lack of basketball knowledge part. A player can score 13 points but what was his impact on that game.
Or maybe just piss off people who aren't ignorant covert racists regardless of what they feel about Lin.
I will still take Lin over Conley long-term. Now, if we were expected to contend for a championship next season... say, if we pick up Dwight in free agency... my answer might be different. But in all likelihood our title contending window doesn't begin until at least the season after next, and I think by then Jeremy will be the superior player. Conley is what he is. He's slightly better than Lin right now, mainly due to his defense. I don't see him getting much better though, while Jeremy has a lot of room to improve.
Well, here are the top ten PG point totals for this year: 1 Russell Westbrook, PG OKC 82 34.9 23.2 8.2-18.7 .438 1.2-3.7 .323 5.6-7.0 .800 2 Stephen Curry, PG GS 78 38.2 22.9 8.0-17.8 .451 3.5-7.7 .453 3.4-3.7 .900 3 Monta Ellis, PG MIL 82 37.5 19.2 7.3-17.5 .416 1.1-4.0 .287 3.5-4.6 .773 4 Damian Lillard, PG POR 82 38.6 19.0 6.7-15.7 .429 2.3-6.1 .368 3.3-3.9 .844 5 Deron Williams, PG BKN 78 36.4 18.9 6.3-14.4 .440 2.2-5.7 .378 4.1-4.7 .859 6 Kemba Walker, PG CHA 82 34.9 17.7 6.4-15.2 .423 1.3-4.0 .322 3.6-4.5 .798 Jrue Holiday, PG PHI 78 37.5 17.7 7.1-16.5 .431 1.2-3.2 .368 2.3-3.1 .752 8 Brandon Jennings, PG MIL 80 36.2 17.5 6.2-15.6 .399 2.2-5.8 .375 2.9-3.5 .819 9 Chris Paul, PG LAC 70 33.4 16.9 5.9-12.2 .481 1.1-3.3 .328 4.1-4.6 .885 10 Ty Lawson, PG DEN 73 34.4 16.7 6.1-13.3 .461 1.2-3.2 .366 3.2-4.3 .756 And here are the top ten PG assists for this past season: 1 Rajon Rondo, PG BOS 38 37.4 420 11.1 148 3.9 14.2 2.84 2 Chris Paul, PG LAC 70 33.4 678 9.7 159 2.3 13.9 4.26 3 Greivis Vasquez, PG NO 78 34.4 704 9.0 247 3.2 12.6 2.85 4 Jrue Holiday, PG PHI 78 37.5 625 8.0 292 3.7 10.3 2.14 5 Deron Williams, PG BKN 78 36.4 604 7.7 218 2.8 10.2 2.77 6 Tony Parker, PG SA 66 32.9 499 7.6 170 2.6 11.0 2.94 7 Russell Westbrook, PG OKC 82 34.9 607 7.4 273 3.3 10.2 2.22 Goran Dragic, PG PHX 77 33.5 569 7.4 212 2.8 10.6 2.68 Jameer Nelson, PG ORL 56 35.3 413 7.4 154 2.8 10.0 2.68 10 Ricky Rubio, PG MIN 57 29.7 418 7.3 172 3.0 11.9 2.43 Jeremy averaged over 15 points and 6 assists the second half of the season. So while 17 points won't make him the best point guard, and 8 assists won't make him the best point guard, they will make him a solid PG for a contending team if we can get that other second superstar. I'm not trying to make Lin into a superstar, he is what he is. But if he averages that next year, according to this year's stats, he would have been 8th among PGs in scoring and 5th among PGs in assists.
He obviously is top tier talent, even though his averages were subpar for the regular season. He averaged 22.8 and 6.3 during the playoffs. Maybe if he averaged more assists during the playoffs, he would still be playing.
First you should read my reply to the comment you are supposedly "repping". Second, I'm not a "newbie" dude. Probably old enough to be your dad. Third, I didn't make up LOH or LOF or any " "OF or " "OH. I'm just quoting what others here have used. I would negative rep you for coat tailing/sucking up, but it's not worth it.
Averages subpar? He was playing 33 mpg and had the third highest PER in the regular season. As for the subpar amount of assists it was due to playing off the ball, his teammates not making shots and constantly being harassed by Tony Allen, Mike Conley, and arguably the best half court defense in the league. I would say a PER of 29.6, TS% of 63.3 was amazing considering the defense he went up against. A shame that his teammates sucked hardcore.
I did answer your question. ( 17/8 is not a top tier PG? ) it's actually the only one that you put with a question mark. Your next statement was more of a challenge to name a PG who averaged 17/8 this season. You may not like the way I answered your question, but if you use reading comprehension and look at the evidence I presented, the answer is there. I'm not limited to answering questions "yes" or "no". I like to use my brain a bit more.
17/8 is a completely arbitrary statline. Using raw stats is a terrible way of measuring anything. What is the PG's assist/to ratio? How efficiently did he score? How much of an impact does he actually have on offense? How good of a defender is he? How many minutes does he play? There are so many more considerations than two stats.
I'm not a CP3 hater, I love his game. I would love to have him as our starting PG. That said, I mis-spoke because of mixing up his post-season assists with his regular season assists of 9.7, the second highest in the league of course. He obviously raised his pts/gm in the post season from 16.7 to 22.8, if I remember correctly, but his assists suffered, either due to his teammates or him taking on more scoring responsibility. Usually you want your superstars to increase all play in the post season though..or at least stay the same. Of course competition plays a big part of that equation as well.
I never said that it wasn't an arbitrary statline or the only statline that mattered. I simply made a prediction of what I think he could average in those two categories next year. It doesn't mean that everything else, such as defense won't matter at all. If you assumed that I meant that, it was only your assumption, I never said that.
